“Have a nice day, Baseball.”
A soft laugh left him and shoved his change into his wallet. He hesitated for a moment before grabbing the bottle of water and slim jim, ignoring the sudden nervousness that had fallen over him.
“Cooper.” He said and looked back at the young woman, smiling at the confused look on her face. “We’ll probably be seeing each other from time to time…figured you should know my name.”
She gave him a bright smile and he paid no attention to the slight flip his stomach did.
“Lucy.”
“It’s a pleasure to meet ya, Lucy.” He flashed her a lopsided grin and slowly backed away from the concession stand.
“See you around, Cooper.” She gave a little wave as she watched him walk backwards, laughing softly when he stumbled slightly.
Cooper Howard had never been one to striking up conversations with strangers, but there was something different about Lucy MacLean that drew him in from the second she smiled at him. Even if he didn't realize it at the time.

Summary
Eight years have passed, making Rick Grimes one of the first men at Grady Memorial Hospital to wake up from a coma that he had slipped into, after being shot while on duty. While struggling with rehabilitation, physical therapy, and getting his life together - he also has to deal with his newfound fame. Along with meeting the people that talked to him and influenced his dreams for the first time.
Warning: I won't say what it is but there are comic spoilers in this story. It's a big part of the story and a big arc later in the comics; just a heads up. Also, yes, Negan is kind of crossed over with Denny from Grey's Anatomy here but he's still Negan. He's just kind of a blend of the characters so he's nicer and more charming than a sociopath.
