Cinder glares down at her, flames leaking from her eye. “Do that and you’re a dead woman.”

“What’s more dangerous right now?” Weiss said testily. “Getting surprised by what Winter called light security, or blowing off dinner with Yang without an halfway-decent excuse?”
The earpiece went quiet for a few seconds. “How about Home in thirty, work got a little complicated but we’ve got it handled?”

Blake turns back around and drapes herself against Yang’s side. “Is this because of what we’ve been discussing?”
“What, that thing where we’ve been seriously considering a relationship that includes Weiss?” Yang asks flatly. She sarcastically continues, “No, definitely not. Not at all.”
