Somehow that was harder to accept than the fact he was in Hell.

Zuko and his Uncle Iroh walk into a tea shop. Everything that can go wrong, will go wrong.
AU where Zuko is the Avatar and he's not ready and willing to fulfill his new duties. In which Aang is the last Airbender and searches for the Avatar to teach him airbending, Katara and Sokka are done with war and are tagging along, Iroh has all odds against him and Azula expresses immense pleasure at being the Crown Princess.

What was the waterbenders name again? Katara. What was the boys name?
“Sokka,” he stated it once, rolling the name around on his tongue as his eyes narrowed, “Akkos, Sokka,” he said it carefully, clearly sounding out how it would be spelt before-

In the fight between Zhao and Zuko at the North pole. Zhao pulls Zuko with him into the spirit world where Zuko now faces the great spirits and they decide upon a fitting punishment for Zuko's crimes.
Let he who chased the Avatar now become the hunted. The fire nation has so proudly chased the dragons for a hundred years. And Zuko is only allowed to regain human form once he has shown true honor!

Summary
Zuko went through the worst day of his life, was given the worst quest in history, and then was banished by the worst man in the Fire Nation. So now he's stuck on a rotten ship surrounded by people who hate him who would without a doubt give him the teasing of a lifetime once they found out he didn't know how to maintain his new nails.
Or, Zuko is going through the weirdest puberty in the world. He thinks this is normal. His crew begs to differ.
