    “I’ll take my food out of the fridge,” Colt adds from the kitchen.
    “And I’ll take the dead body out,” Ryland answers with a sigh as he steps in the entry. He really would have loved nothing more than to spend his sleep time in a bed and not in the back seat of a car, but that wish was over when the man came closer than he had in the last two days and followed him into the stairwell.

    Driver keeps running into his next door neighbor, a teacher at the nearby middle school. One night he notices his neighbor being upset, despite not wanting to get personally involved in other's lives again, he asks what's troubling him. A quick introduction ensues but the teacher leaves to answer a phone call. Finding himself intrigued, Driver stays up to make sure the teacher returns home safe. After that encounter they keep bumping into each other with Driver struggling to not get attached and fall for one of his neighbors. Again.

    Colt's not paying attention, too busy thinking about how to convince Casey to let him drive for a change when he loses his balance and falls face first off the short ledge he'd been standing on. It's not too bad, if anything he’s glad no one is around to see it.
    Or so he thought. “Is your head alright?”
    And Colt—stupid, desperate Colt who had been told repeatedly that flirting in a way that could be perceived as joking would get him nowhere but frustrated, but who also could find no other outlet for the things Casey made him feel— bites his lip slightly and stares straight into Casey’s eyes before saying, “yeah, my head’s pretty good. Wanna check it out?”

    or; Colt's the type of guy to be both obvious and oblivious about a crush and Driver's the type of guy to silently watch it play out while giggling and kicking his feet in his mind

    “What is it?” Jackie asks, voice trembling. In response, V points a shaking finger over to the pile, where there’s a small but distinct opening, amidst the broken household appliances and discarded BD headsets. Feeling not unlike a horror movie protagonist who’s heading down into the dark, unwelcome, and almost certainly haunted space of his basement, Jackie leans closer, peering into the darkness.

    A face looks back at him.

    When eight-year-old V and ten-year-old Jackie stumble across a half-dead man in a trash heap, they don't expect him to give them a chip containing the engram of Johnny Silverhand, with the intention of slotting it back into his cryogenically frozen body. And they certainly don't expect to be forced into hiding after Arasaka catches wind of where the Relic's ended up and attempts to hunt them down. Forced to rely on a long-dead rockerboy and his assortment of allies for survival- all of whom have less experience in dealing with traumatized children than the last-, V is pretty sure they aren't going to make it back home in time for Mama Welles' special chilaquiles.
