Summary
Batman came a lot closer than he ever realized to breaking his code that night, but with the help of a friend and maybe a semi-estranged brother, the Red Hood might pull through. In the meantime, Jason is unconscious, Roy is desperate, and Dick is just plain confused.
Basically, my own slightly self-indulgent version of the time between RHATO #25 and Annual 2 to add to the pile because why not?

Slade should’ve known the moment he was reassigned.
He was supposed to run the op with Jason. It would’ve been ridiculous to have anyone else on headset for it. Besides being poorly reactive to unknown handlers, Slade was the one who knew the op inside and out. He should’ve been running it.
But then he was reassigned, the paperwork taken from his hands and the access removed from his computer.
He should’ve known then.

Summary
Bruce is thrilled when his wayward son is willing to attend family events and start mending their relationship. He pulls out all the stops for a gala in Jason's honor... only for his Jaylad to arrive under the thumb of a threatening date - one who seems to know more than he should about the family.
Meanwhile, Jason has returned to Crime Alley after shooting the Penguin, and the months of physical therapy to recover from Batman's 'discipline' afterwards. He is maintaining tentative alliances with the more tolerable bats, but when Dick begs him to attend a Wayne Gala, the Red Hood finds himself scrambling for a bodyguard. After all, who wants to spend an evening undercover making nice with the vigilante who put him in a hospital?
Or: Jason is stuck with only a single henchman as backup for a 'family' event, but Bruce does not approve of his son's date.

Summary
"I kill so others don't have to," Bruce states firmly and clearly. This entire situation didn't seem like it could get any more bizarre, what with Bruce sitting in the dark and polishing guns, but somehow it just has, "While you are here you will not kill."
Jason's throat is scratchy and dry with terror, but the insatiable feeling of being talked over and disregarded is a fresh wound. He can't back down from this if he tried, "I've killed. I still kill. Who the fuck do you think you are to stop me?"
Bruce gently sets down his gun, and picks up the blade beside him with practised ease. Jason's blood runs cold when the man wearing his father's face says, "You will die by my hand if you try."
(Jason meets a version of Bruce who has manifested his fears very differently.)
