There is this undeniable fact of the world that nobody will see you for who you are. Beyond that, it’s the fact that the desire of want propels it.
To make an impossible machine, a machine that runs on the ideal of perpetual motion is one regarded as a fool’s errand. To him, to a man such as Luca Balsa.. It’s a want that has bled him repeatedly.
It whips him, it beats him, it holds him down and threatens to break his face, and it aches like it won’t ever leave. In that regard, he knows it won’t. Just as he knows that he stares at the walls more often than not, trying to conceptualize something distinctly unreal. Not yet.
It has always left him staring at a wall, trying to put together equations that slip from his mind without something to bind it to reality. It’s a fetus in the making, a creation he strives to set as his magnum opus. It will be the greatest thing he will make, something that will leave him either disgraced or exalted beyond his blood.
He is a man that’s always strived to be more than it.

I don't have enough words. I have loved Luca Balsa for five years and this is the exact sort of work I have been craving recently. All his flaws and intricacies on display!! And balanced so perfectly too– it is clear where he goes wrong and yet his internal logic and beliefs are believable, easy to follow, and make SENSE from his point of view. I feel ill. And I mean that positively.

When I first read this fic last year, I had very little knowledge of persona 4, and next to none of persona 3. I didn't even know what Shinji looked like, but I still absolutely SOBBED over him when I reading this for the first (and second) time. That's some powerful writing.

I am indescribably insane about this fic. The best words I have for it is that it plays with the medium in the same way some of my other favorite stories of all time do, has a similar feel to that of playing signalis, just through text; achieved masterfully through the twisting of perspective, of time, of space, of the very formatting itself. I hope with all my heart that I can write like this one day.
