The melody gets a little clearer when he breaks out of the trees, and Jingyi changes course with certainty, barreling down the back hill and through the Cloud Recesses, dodging scandalized disciples left and right. He throws open the doors to the Receiving Hall without announcement and bows nearly double, eyes on the floor instead of on the shocked faces of the Mei delegation and the impenetrable gaze of the Chief Cultivator.
"Forgive this disciple," Jingyi shouts, because he's going to get punished for rule breaking regardless. "From the back hill, Hanguang-jun, there is a song in the wind!"

Summary
Despite what Jiang Wanyin and his Sect had done, despite everything, baba never once cursed them as they did the Yiling Patriarch's name. Mourn as baba did for Sizhui's family, for the family that had become baba's own in all but name, never once did he look upon the cultivation world in vengeance. Instead, every breath, every shred of life in baba's failing body had been dedicated to keeping Sizhui safe, fed and loved, as if the slightest speck of grudge towards the world would have tainted his own boundless love towards Sizhui.
But Sizhui is alone in the world now, and he is not his baba - No one else is like baba, and Sizhui supposes that was what had sealed his father's fate, in a world where one is demanded to serve mere ideas of righteousness and honor rather than the people.
And so upon seeing the purple robes amidst the crowd, Wei Sizhui decides that perhaps it would not hurt to start his path of vengeance a little closer to home.

Lan Wangji hissed, closing his eyes for a moment before forcing himself to look back at his husband. The sting from the blade was bearable but combined with his injured arm twisted back, it was difficult to hide the pain in his eyes. Not that it would have worked anyway, Wei Ying knew every line of his face, knew all of his expressions, no matter how small.
Wei Ying’s eyes darkened as his hand settled on Chenqing. “Lower your dagger or you won’t leave this forest alive."
Or, 5 times Wei Wuxian protected his loved ones and one time Lan Wangji protected him.

During the commotion involving Wei Wuxian, A-Ling refused little sleep. His screams carried across Koi Tower, putting wailing ghosts too shame. He was inconsolable by everyone. It was only when Jin Zixuan unintentionally passed the room holding Wei Wuxian while trying to calm down his son did A-Ling miraculously settle down. Since then, he has slept peacefully every night. Yanli expressed, in the quiet and security of their bedroom, that perhaps Wei Wuxian's spirit soothed A-Ling and continues to do so.
At the least expected times, Jin Zixuan swears he can hear the distant sound of a flute.
But when he stops to actually listen for it, he hears nothing.

Summary
Lan WangJi knew well that he had fallen in love with a stubborn man.
It was stubbornness with which Wei Ying pursued his friendship in the Cloud Recesses all those years ago, despite constant rebuffs. It was stubbornness with which he clawed his way from the Burial Mounds the first time. And now, meeting Wei Ying in Yiling, child in his arms, he realized: it was the same stubbornness which persuaded him to go back into the Burial Mounds the second time.
Wei Ying, his path once chosen, would never waver from it. All Lan WangJi could do then, was choose to walk beside him.
(Never let it be said that Lan WangJi was any less stubborn than the object of his affections.)

At first, when he had just met the ghost, he didn't even notice, or was glad for a moment's peace. But as the months passed and Hikaru got used to the ghost constantly by his side those silences became louder than Sai's words.
