Summary
Another year goes by and it is getting close to the anniversary of when Jiang Cheng had lost his golden core and Wei Wuxian can't stand the thought of his brother having to endure it alone so he insists his brother-in-law, Lan Xichen, go spend time with the Yunmeng Sect Leader. Xichen finds that Jiang Cheng is quite the interesting and busy man to befriend.
Trouble comes when a rare type of cultivator under Jiang Cheng's wing known as a Tranquil accidently uses his ability against Lan Xichen.
When he pulls out of the Tranquil's Vision he finds himself in a wrecked room, blood on the walls and himself and a terrifying curse laid upon Sect Leader Jiang.
Please be warned that Chapter 9 is very difficult to read and deals with the fall of Lotus Pier but also the mentality of victims of traumatic experiences.

Summary
Jiang Cheng's life had completely changed on that night that Wei Wuxian had convinced him to go out on their first night hunt. It changed everything to the point of no return. Summary
After saving Shen Qingqiu from a river, Jiang Cheng is given the opportunity to study at the Cang Qiong Mountains. There he could be himself and not have to live under the shadow of Wei Wuxian. He's happy to study under Shen Qingqiu and be able to train with his new friend Luo Binghe. What he doesn't expect is how he starts to desire to have his Shifu's approval. It's not like he spends a lot of time with Liu Qingge. There are some training matches and even one on one sparring, it's nice but it's not what he's after. Jiang Cheng likes how easy it is to smile around him. How there is no impossible bar to raise to. More over, how he calms his mind and wipes away the insecurities.
Everything is going well until his shizun sends him back home, alone, when Lotus Pier is being attacked. After all, the system says that the boy is supposed to die. -

As Jiang Cheng paces, as Jin Zixuan stands under his awning and looks murderous, a stray amount of both Yunmeng and Lanling disciples hover uncertainly somewhere between the two of them. Everyone else has scattered by now, run back to their sects—but Jiang Cheng can’t do that. He has to get Wei Wuxian out of Xuanwu cave before anything else.
It doesn’t help that Jin Zixuan hasn’t fucked off by now.
It starts when Jin Zixuan takes him by the arm and drags him out the water. With Wei Wuxian left trapped, Jiang Cheng is desperate to find a way to rescue him—and he has nothing, not a phone, not a weapon, nothing except Jin Zixuan and an offer of help that he doesn’t understand. But he hates Jin Zixuan. And Jin Zixuan hates him. He thinks. He’s pretty sure.
