Summary
Aaron is exhausted and that doesn’t bode well for anyone in his vicinity. If he’d thought undergrad was hard, medical school was hell. He misses the days when finals week meant only exams. Now his university mixes lectures for material that will be tested on finals only days later with finals from other classes. Some of the material is given only twenty-four hours for learning.
Rubbing at his temple, Aaron clicks through his last exam one more time. Each question is overthought and he has way too many sheets of scrap paper at his side as he double checks each and every calculation, diagnosis, and treatment. Finally, he reaches the end of what he can tolerate and hits submit in a fit of annoyance. Regret immediately turns his gut cold as he hurries to lower the brightness of his screen so the girl behind him can’t read his grade as examplify finishes calculating it.
Fuck.
He passed. It was a slim margin, but he passed.

Summary
Jean’s breathing comes much harder than it should, even after practically carrying Kevin to Jeremy’s doorstep. His expression is torn, gaze flickering past Jeremy’s shoulder when Kevin whines a wordless protest.
Jean turns his face from them both. “I cannot stay. I—I must distract him before he realizes Kevin is missing.”
They’re the first words Jeremy’s ever heard him say. It’s good to know that the language barrier has been overstated.
Careful, projecting each movement, Jeremy catches Jean’s pinky finger once more, this time just with his index. “Look, I don’t know what happened but I’m really not comfortable letting you just leave.”
“Your comfort is not a factor.”

Summary
You can’t coddle him.” Kevin rolls his shoulders, cracking his neck, as he drops to sit next to Jeremy. “If he isn’t going to do what is needed, then you need to make him.”
“The last thing Jean needs is more people making decisions for him.” Jeremy says. If there’s one thing he knows, it’s that. He doesn’t need the full story to see that Jean has never been allowed to make his own choices. “He needs space to heal.”
“I didn’t bring him here to heal.” Kevin snaps and then looks stricken the second the words leave his mouth. That’s all that saves him from Jeremy’s wrath.

“He’s his own person.” Alvarez insists with the same thinly veiled venom she’d had the night before at dinner.Kevin grunts; cups Jean’s face in his hands, squishing cheeks that are finally starting to fill out. The bottomless trust he finds in Jean’s eyes, even after everything, is dizzying enough to make him sick. “Jean does not know how to be a person, much less his own. You do not know him as I do.”
No one knows Jean as Kevin does. The person who helped him sculpt Jean is dead. Riko put a muzzle on Jean and left Kevin holding the leash.

Summary
It became clear within twenty-four hours that Kevin had been literal when he said Jean would submit. At first, Jeremy had thought Kevin was just outing Jean’s designation with typical Day tact. Now he’s worried that Jean’s submission is such a fact of life for them that it didn’t occur to either ex-Raven that it could be private. There were little hints throughout the day, times when Jean had caved to Jeremy’s suggestions a little quicker than most would.
…
In hindsight, learning about the meal plan should have been the final nail in the coffin. If even the doms were expected to adhere to such control, there was little chance that submissives were granted any autonomy. Still, Jeremy chooses to be an eternal optimist and so it’s not until Jean kneels at his feet, when they’re settling in to watch TV, the next evening that the truth hits.Series

Summary
Riko rolls off his bed, flicking the blood from his fingers and then wiping them clean on Jean’s boxers. “You’ll put this away?”
Kevin forces his smile to soften, doesn’t let himself feel the chill in his bones when he stands with Riko. Nights like these, Riko wants to indulge in familiarity with Kevin—an older brother sneaking off to play hooky with his girlfriend. Kevin has long since perfected his role, slipping into casual Japanese. “Yes, big brother. Have fun.”

Summary
“There’s nothing you can do without defying father.”
Grief seizes Thor’s chest, sharp and biting. He wishes that he’d paid the words more heed the first time he heard them. Asgard still stands, his friends still live, and his brother is goading him into a trap. Once this had been the worst day of his life. Now, it hardly registers among the top twenty.

Summary
“You have served the covert well as beroya.” The Armorer intones. “Now it is time to raise warriors. This is the way.”
“This is the way.” Paz responds instinctively.
After a moment’s hesitation, Djarin echos them. It looks like a droid reboot—unnatural stillness exploding into exaggerated movements before recalibration kicks in. “This is the way.”
“Do you accept the match?”
Djarin’s visor tips toward Paz dubiously. There’s a beat where he waits for Paz to answer first, calling into question just how much he actually understands of the ritual they’ve found themselves in. It is the right of the omega to reject or accept a match, not the alpha. Finally he turns back to the armorer. It seems he at least knows the appropriate responses. “Alpha Vizsla has proven a strong defender of clan and covert. I accept.”
“This is the way.”

Summary
After the fight with the pirates followed by their parents’ attack, Carlos isn’t surprised when Harry jumps him. Metal clatters against cobblestone as the hook falls and strong hands grip Carlos by the jaw so a familiar tongue can slide between his teeth. When he tries to pull back, Harry tangles his fingers in Carlos’ hair to hold him still with a low growl.
Growling back, Carlos relents and tips his head into the kiss. His back is slammed against a crumbling brick wall and Harry’s grip on his hair pins him into place. It hurts, but most things do with Harry. The familiarity is calming.
Harry pulls back for breath as he moves his free hand to untuck Carlos’ tank. His breath is hot against Carlos’ neck as he mouths downward. “They take your bark when they defanged ye, De Vil?”

“You came.”
Fox’s blatant expression of disbelief and grief is enough to have Fives’ chest seizing with self-recrimination. They hadn’t just been chasing Fox because he was a hot piece of tail that wasn’t putting out. Fox was as much a part of their triad as he or Echo was and Fives nearly left him to mourn alone.

It’s strange how much comfort the sight of Fox can give. If things hadn’t been what they were, Rex is pretty sure he would have hated Fox for being such a shabla perfectionist. Things being what they are, Rex knows that Fox was often all that stood between him and a decom. For whatever reason, despite having the worst personality known to vode and a mutual dislike of Rex, Fox has gone through unnameable horrors to keep Rex safe—some before Rex even knew his ori’vod.

Summary
Alpha had known that something was going to break long before it did. He’d felt the band stretching taut over the past few weeks.
Fox has been disappearing for longer and longer each time. Sometimes he returns with a flippant laugh and contraband treats, sometimes with a bitter smirk and hard earned favors. He always returns with bruises that couldn’t have been earned in training. Lately, it’s been more than just bruises on hips and sensitive skin. Fox is returning with deliberate injuries and splotchy burns that run down the inside of his thighs and the hollow of his hip. Rings of teeth shaped bruises line the meat of his arms and neck. Razor thin cuts swirl across his back in artistic designs before healing without scarring but they all know it’s a matter of time before they get deeper.
So no. Alpha isn’t shocked when the rubber finally snaps.

Summary
Alpha meets the youngest of his cadet batch by seeming happenstance. The CC, only two standard, is already trawling through the files of the terminal he sliced into when Alpha slips in. Before Alpha has a chance to assess the situation, the cadet has already scanned him with a guarded expression before clearly dismissing him.
Thrown by the ad’s gall, and a little impressed, Alpha crosses his arms over his chest and does his best impression of Prime threatening a whipping. “What do you think you’re doing?”
“Same as you, I expect.”

Summary
The ship touches down and the Duchess descends in a display of gaudy ornamentation. Fresh flowers, carefully frozen in stasis, decorate her hair. Large earrings dangle past her jaw and her headdress is elaborate enough it probably costs close to the price of a standard CT brother. The many layers of her dress are at least practical enough to split for movement but that’s all Fox can say for her appearance.
The smile that graces her delicate features as she carefully descends fades the second she catches sight of Fox and their entourage. “What is this?”
“Your security detail while you’re in the Republic.” Amidala soothes, taking Kryze’s arm and petting it.
Fox is far from impressed with this example of undiluted Mandalorian culture. It would appear that she is equally displeased by his presence.

Summary
Most of the time Obi Wan can forget that his men are younger than a padawan. Their force presences are so strong and solid, more akin to a young knight than an initiate or Padawan, and it lets him ignore the truth while he sends them to their deaths.
It is times like these, when Cody lingers in the doorway, when he cannot see them as anything but younglings.

Summary
Despite all sense to the contrary, there is a CC sitting across from 7567 and it is smiling. It’s not a kind smile, like 7567 sometimes sees shared between his batchmates. It’s a sharp slash that shows off a threatening number of teeth and a promise of blood.
“You’ve been requisitioned, verd’ika.”
A cold pit opens at the base of 7567’s abdomen and he feels himself collapsing in on it like a black hole. He doesn’t know what that means but he does know that it’s new. New things happening to him is never good. He licks his bottom lip and swallows hard. “Sir?”
“New orders.” The CC, 1010 the tattoo just below the hinge of its jaw denotes, leans in with a fierce expression. “Every CC batch is getting an ad. Do what you’re told and you won’t be decommed. Tayli’bac?”

Summary
Seventeen comes to a stop in front of them, arms crossed and expression dark with judgment. He doesn’t shout but he comes very nearly close to it. “Marshal Commander CC1010, what the fuck do you think you’re doing?”
The Generals all startle forward, ready to come to Fox’s defense. It warms something in Wolffe’s chest to see that there are others who care about his batch ik’aad but they don’t need to bother.
Fox’s chin tips up further into defiance as a grin, wide and manic, splits across his face and breaks open his busted lip. The blood stains his teeth red and that’s fitting too. It’s been too long since Wolffe has seen more than one of Fox’s masks—been an eternity since he’s seen Fox.
“Sir.” Fox salutes and stamps his foot down against the walkway and sends the metal ringing. “My very best, Sir.”
Seventeen stares down at Fox with a deliberately unimpressed expression before he grabs Fox by his hair and pulls him in for a bone rattling keldabe. “I’m gonna fucking murder you, kid.”

“And Senator Amidala?”
Real amusement and affection color Fox’s voice now when he answers, though his expression stays blank beyond his soft-neutral mask. Despite his feelings on natborns, Fox approves of Kenobi’s concern for the woman. “General Skywalker’s wife is well, despite her best efforts, and the records show that the ade are healthy.”
“When did he find time to get her pregnant?” Cody asks with exasperation at the same time his General chokes out, “My Padawan’s what?”
Fox full body recoils and for the first time in their twelve point five short years of life, Cody sees what Fox looks like when surprised.
It’s not pleasant.

“What’s going on, vod’ika?”
“I’m the sithsdamned oldest.” Annoyance bleeds across Fox’s expression but it’s not real. Beneath the exaggerated show of emotion, Bly can see the fear hiding beneath. Fox’s lip, already pulled up in a permanent snarl, tugs up higher. “I went in the tubes first, that makes me the oldest.”
“Decanted last though.” Bly sing songs as he drops to his knees next to Fox. “Two days gap makes you the batch baby.”
“Two extra days of bliss.“

Summary
Their youngest batcher blinks away the mixture of tears and water that drips down his nose to mix with runny snot. Fox is still gathering himself and he’s doing it too slowly. If he doesn’t—
“Thank you, sir.” Fox’s voice is hoarse and barely there but still loud enough to be heard. His hand trembles too much for his salute to be precisely regulation but it has to be enough. It has to be enough because Cody isn’t sure that Fox will survive another session intact.
The trainer seems to agree because, despite his annoyed sigh, he flicks his hand in dismissal. “Report to the mess hall and then retire early to the barracks. We’ll resume tomorrow.”
“Yessir. Thank you sir.”

Summary
Watto hadn’t been a bad Master, but that certainly didn’t make him a good one either. As much as Anakin loved pod racing—and as determined as he had always been to win—Ani always knew he wasn’t meant to. He was just another piece in all of Watto’s many cons. Find some newcomer down on their luck, convince them that he really could win, get them to bet on him against Watto, and then lose. Anakin hadn’t been supposed to win, and he wasn’t supposed to be free.
So, he supposes, he can’t be too upset that he’s not.
