What started with a minor accident in battle led to more and more circumstances forcing the hedgehogs together, until neither could deny the feelings slowly starting to force their way to the surface. And as their relationship became ever more complicated, the two rivals started to question whether they really knew as much about each other as they thought, and whether they could ever stop being enemies and start being friends...

Summary
Shadow was finally best friends with Sonic, he could entrust his life with the other and he knew Sonic would do the same.
But now? Shadow questions if he was even worthy to be called such a thing in the first place, reason being? He betrayed the one person who understood him more than anyone, even Rouge. He left him for dead in the hands of ruthless scientists that could dissect him until there was nothing left of him.
Shadow knows that if Sonic was in his place, he would not care about the public and do his best to protect and help Shadow, he would not let Shadow be chained, he would not let Shadow be muzzled, he would not let Shadow be forcefully shoved into an E.P.F van as all his green emerald eyes held was fear and terror as he drastically looked around wordlessly begging for help as he stared Shadow dead in the eyes when all he did was nothing nothing nothing nothing nothing nothing NOTHING NOTHING-
Shadow should have done something. Then maybe, just maybe, he wouldn’t be so disappointed in himself for betraying a person he cares about for the second time.
(Also I know the summary is bad, but bear with me.)

Summary
In between saving the world from Eggman’s dastardly plots and finding himself incredibly bored, Sonic decides to work at the local aquarium. While he surprises himself by actually enjoying his job, this sentiment sours upon being permanently assigned to the new Kraken exhibit, housing a mysterious and frightening creature from the depths of the ocean.
However, Sonic's annoyance soon turns into intrigue as he finds himself sneaking into the aquarium during the late hours of the night, unable to stay away from the strange familiarity the terrifying Kraken possesses….
