“Katsuki…” Izuku’s voice was barely above a whisper now, like a secret only for him.
Katsuki grumbled, pretending to be annoyed even as his heart pounded. “What?” he asked, but it came out quieter than intended.
Izuku tilted his head slightly, leaning in until their noses brushed. Katsuki froze, his breath catching in his throat. He didn’t pull away. Izuku’s lips were so close, the warmth of his breath ghosting across his skin, and before Katsuki could brace himself, Izuku closed the gap.

Now? Katsuki wakes up most nights, heart hammering in his chest as he attempts to calm his raging pulse from the vivid nightmares of Izuku with no arms. Of Izuku, bloodied and beaten, fighting for the world. He digs his palms into his eye sockets; sucks air in through clenched teeth as he sobs.
He’d give anything to have Izuku back in his life.

Katsuki sniffs and shrugs in an insouciant fashion. “I guess,” he mutters. He looks ashamed. Izuku feels his throat tighten with heartache for him.
Izuku squeezes his hand in comfort. “I’m here,” is all he says as he begins walking down the sidewalk again, Katsuki in tow.Katsuki's quirk is loud. Very loud. His repeated, close exposure to the high decibel output has done a number on his hearing. Izuku notices, as he notices most things when it comes to Katsuki.
Izuku views it just as a change, Katsuki views it as a flaw.
But, Izuku has altered Katsuki's perspective before. He can do it again.
