There was a chill in the air. Katsuki coughed, and looked away from the suddenly intense emerald eyes. "Guess we'll never know, huh?"Izuku breathed out a small laugh, and Katsuki felt a shiver run down his spine. There should be nothing here that made him uncomfortable, and yet. There was danger lurking in the air. Izuku stood up and clapped his hands together, and Katsuki jumped.
When Katsuki rejects his step-brother's advances, he expects that to be the end of it. But his life had never been easy.

Izuku's smile flickered away for a second. Only a second, but Katsuki noticed that too. He clenched his fist, gripping his remote so tightly in his hand that it almost broke with the strain.
"Of course," Izuku said, like that wasn't a blatant lie. "I'm proud of what my friends accomplished, of course I am."
That part, at least, didn't sound like a lie.
"Kacchan most of all."
Katsuki's had no contact with Izuku ever since he disappeared from their lives barely a week after the war ended, only finding out bits and pieces of Izuku's life in America through broadcasts on TV. When an undercover mission forces the two of them together again, Katsuki tries his level best to not let Izuku get under his skin again.

He would smile and say he was fine, as well as to be expected, really and no one would comment on how the words didn't hold any truth to them, or how the smile didn't quite reach his eyes like it used to.
(How could he be a hero, when he had only ended up hurting the person he cared about the most, in the end?)
Izuku thought that seeing Kacchan's body on the battlefield was the worst moment of his life.
Seeing Kacchan actually die was a thousand times worse.
It doesn't get easier the second time. Or the time after. And after.
