Summary
Dennis lays in the bed with a stillness so absolute it feels staged. A ventilator breathes for him in measured sighs, the sound too rhythmic to be human. It almost looks like he’s a kid pretending to sleep in the backseat of his parents’ car, hoping to be carried inside by strong paternal arms.
Robby would do anything for that to be the case. Instead, it is sedation that has smoothed away the sharpness from Dennis’s features.
It is a heart attack that has made him so still.

Dennis Whitaker fails to clear and gets shocked by a defibrillator. He takes it as a punishment for sinful eyes that can't seem to look away from Dr. Robby and decides not to tell anyone. The ER keeps moving, but Dennis's heart doesn't. It terribly, horribly doesn't.

“Have you given dating apps a chance?” the therapist asks and Robby shudders, acts it up, scowls.
“Fuck, no.” he groans.
“We live in modern times, Michael.”
“They’re too impersonal, I guess.”
“I guess you could look for one app or one site that is thorough, that caters to you.”
“So, you want me to go online and look for a website to find myself a wife?”
Doctor Thomas shrugs.
And he can’t believe he’s even entertaining the idea; he can’t believe he’s even giving it a chance. But he walks to his home office, sits behind the desk, opens his laptop, puts on his glasses and types the website Jack sent him.
It loads, then in bright red letters the title ‘Magic Love Matching’ appears in his screen, he cringes at the name, then the letters fade into a login screen and a button that says ‘Fill the questionnaire’, and before he can overthink what he’s doing and chicken out, he clicks.Bookmarked by aac11

Playing house at Robby’s place initially was like a dream. Lounging around, surrounded by his little plants, taking care of them. Doing the dishes like he really owned a house. Sleeping in a bed in peace, like he really owned a house. The view of Pittsburgh was breathtaking; all of the high rises reminded him that he was a small part of something much bigger. All of the imagery and framed photos of Robby with his motorcycle reminded Dennis of just how much the guy loved that two-wheeled majesty. It was almost like the motorcycle was his only friend.
