Voren is quintessentially Vulcan. Born of a pon farr-induced tryst to parents who didn’t want him, logic was always a companion when he had nothing else. Beyond the secretive atmosphere of Vulcan, pon farr exists in a place between rumor and fantasy, contrived into plotlines and punchlines alike. Yet for Vulcans who suffer from it, the time of mating is a fight for survival that often culminates in broken hearts, broken families, broken lives. As Voren will discover, Vulcan logic may be the key to serenity but Vulcan biology always exacts a price.

an absolute joy to read after deep-diving back into star trek. there's so much chemistry between the two leads, and it's so satisfying watching them both go through the hurdles of their relationship. awkward, intense, and deliciously sexy. is this the first pwp pon farr fic around? oh definitely not. but it's certainly one of the most well-written. saeva is also my favorite original protagonist of this author's works, right before sera, and so human in emotions despite being vulcan in origin. i'm honestly praying that this won't turn into another pregnancy fic, as it already had been done in another of the author's primary work, but if that is what the author has in mind then that is what i will accept.

feels like that, if by chance, takamatsu-sensei wanted to set skip to loafer in an adult-appropriate setting in LA (like how many old 90s modern shojo happened to be in america), this would be the exact result. it's such a call back to the series and yet so refreshing altogether with enough differences to keep readers on their toes. i don't know how the author did it, but they made something both simultaneously so nostalgic and novel all at once.

Trafalgar Law was a Supernova, a rockstar in the black market organ trade, reknown for his sadism, and potentially one of the most dangerous men Nami had ever met. She wasn't going to let a man like that hold a life debt over Luffy. Unfortunately, he's not interested in money or treasure; Law has plans, and the Cat Thief might be of supreme use to them, or at least make a charming bedmate. So he makes her a deal; if she wants to pay him back, Nami must sail with the Heart Pirates for one year.

curses of shipping rare pairs is that you can never get enough of any form of media, official or fan-based, especially if it's a pair you know the author will never ever consider. except in dreams. because that's where all the fantasies come true. and yes, i will escape into my imagination and draw N + L hearts on my shower windows for hours if i want. because i ship them. very badly. alongside OT5 Going Merry ship, but that's also obscure AF and the last fic i loved with that ship was on ff.net and at least a decade old, so yes, I can't win, but it's ok because i have my iMaGiNAtiOn. but then, y'know, there's that niggle of doubt that just says: hey! you can still ship it, but just find a new OTP in the OP fandom! it's not like you'll find much anyways! and then i'm like, yeah, okay, whatever and hide my waterfall of tears because i was craving pears but got kiwi instead for X years, which is like. Still yummy, but doesn't hit that sweet spot, y'know? but hey. there's nami being a badass queen and roaring problems she'll have to grow from. there's law who's dripping tall, dark, and sexy through his pores accompanied by not-very-well-hidden skeletons in the closet. there's friendship between all genders, there's no bashing (which is very hard for 99% of fandom authors considering characters like Arlong), and there's that deliciously agonizing prolonged sexual tension.
//TLDR; this fic and a certain other is the reason why i adore this pair. but also, writing. jesus christ you'll rarely find a rare pair ship w great writing and an equally great plot, and this? i've reread this at least thrice (twice on ff.net, and once here); may the author ever be happy and healthy for giving us starving fans great food.
