Summary
Dream was curled on the dungeon floor, folded in on himself. His golden hair had gone dull with grime, and his sheep ears were pressed flat to his skull as if he could make himself smaller by force of will. The chains around his wrists looked too big on him now. Too heavy.
"Dream!" Technoblade darkened with fury, and he rushed to his prisoner's side. Gently, he lifted Dream, cradling the weakened man to his chest. His jaw clenched with fury, but he managed to bite out the words. "Dream, who did this to you?"
OR:
When his kingdom's knights finally manage to capture Dream - a notorious thief and Techno's childhood best friend - Techno makes a plan: avoid the dungeon, avoid the inevitable execution, avoid thinking about it at all.
Unfortunately, one of Techno’s guards has a plan too.

Summary
Despite having spent weeks in prison together, Technoblade was unused to seeing Dream's bare face. Unused to the humanity that confronted him whenever he saw the man unmasked.
Dream was pale, almost unnaturally so, and there was a small smattering of freckles across his nose bridge. A small, pink scar carved up his cheek, away from his jawline. His lips, slightly parted as he slept, looked deceptively soft.
For a moment, Techno pondered the idea of reaching over and brushing his thumb against them.

Dream couldn't stop looking at them. Very suddenly, Dream felt overwhelmed with the need to kiss him.
Or maybe it wasn't all that sudden. Maybe Dream had been wanting to kiss Technoblade for a very long time.

Dream Exdii, God of Order, is tired of being held in the Gods' Real with nothing to do. But George is asleep and the Elders are busy, surely Dream can sneak down to visit Technoblade in the human world. At least until the solstice in a month's time.
But a month long trip quickly devolves into something more as Dream experiences freedom like they never have before. Dream doesn't want to leave.
The Elders grow angry.

Not only was Techno's soulmate human, he was a reckless fool. He was a reckless fool and Technoblade loved him.
Loved him because his hair shined like it was threaded with gold, loved him because when he laughed he threw his head back with so much strength he often stumbled with the force of it, loved him because when he fought he looked as though he was dancing. Loved him because he was his soulmate and that's what soulmates did.
Dream was beautiful and mortal and Technoblade loved and hated him for it.

Technoblade loses his soulmate only to find him again, nearly 100 years later.
