Frank Castle has built a life that revolves around the idea that he is, eventually, going to die. At 39, he has spent the last 16 years of his life smuggling people as a black-market extractor, specializing in helping people get somewhere without being found. He helps fugitives, witnesses, undocumented people, and individuals escaping dangerous situations. The problem with that kind of lifestyle is that it is unsustainable.
Peyton Tims is a nurse who is, by all accounts, sunshine. Her happiness is as carefully constructed as Frank's roughness, a kindness that she has turned into a career, a life, and a community, brick by brick, careful not to be to others what the world was to her. At 28, she has it all figured out. The tools, the therapy, the communication. What years of working through her past did not prepare her for was a man who has been more forged than born.
Or: sunshine meets thunderstorm. Sunshine is also a biting, mean bitch with teeth, and we love her.
