Nick taps his chin. “You could try asking Edgeworth. He’s probably not a theme park guy, but he likes the Steel Samurai. There’s a pretty nice figure by the windowsill in his office.”
Maya’s face screws up. “I can’t ask Edgeworth to go to a theme park! We’re not nearly close enough for that. It’d be so awkward.”
“You’ve got a few months.” Nick takes a swig of his coffee. “You could try getting closer to him.”
“You want me to befriend the world’s most unapproachable man."

Summary
Phoenix’s heart is pounding when Edgeworth lifts his hand, but then he hesitates. In that moment of pause, Phoenix sees years of pressure weighing him down. Miles cried over folding a bad paper crane when he still had the father he idolized to tell him it was okay. Then he was fighting to be good enough in every aspect of his life, not even to be accepted, but to avoid being rebuked.
It’s okay, Phoenix wants to say. Not as a platitude but an assertion. They’re not going to be very good dancers and that’s okay.
Phoenix shoves past his own fear, past that nagging voice telling him to accept rejection. If he puts himself out there to be judged, silly and trivial as his fears may be, then maybe he’ll show Edgeworth how to do that too.
“Can I have this dance?”

Maya wants to be Franziska's plus one to the annual Policeman's Ball, which would leave Edgeworth without someone to keep him company through an event he's been dreading. If only there was a spiky haired defense attorney with no life who could do it...

“Miles,” Phoenix says, his voice scratchy over the phone. Miles can’t tell if it’s the connection or how Phoenix actually sounds. It could be either. Miles hasn’t heard from Phoenix since the trial, despite how many times he’s tried to call.
Really, it’s the use of his first name that tears Miles out of the shock of seeing Phoenix’s contact name light up his phone.
“Miles,” Phoenix repeats, “I need your help.”

The smell of smoke was drifting faintly around the car, but it had mostly cleared up, which was both a relief and a terrifying indication that the car had, in fact, been there since the earthquake.'
