He slaps away the dumb hat, watches it fly to the other side of the van. “Never mind. You look better without it.”

Billy turns to find—another ginger. Jesus, were they multiplying?
The table goes quiet.
“Yes, Carol,” Heather says flatly. “What do you want?”
Carol chews her gum, blatantly eyeing him up and down. “So you’re like, the Malibu Barbie Tommy won’t shut up about?”
He blinks. “Huh?”
She jerks a thumb over her shoulder. Sure enough—Hagan, at the jock table, failing miserably to hide the puppy eyes he’s sending over.
“My boyfriend misses you,” she smirks.
She plops into the empty seat across from him, right beside Heather. The cheer captain scowls. Carol beckons Tommy over, and he comes like a fucking dog to heel.
Ugh.

This is a really bad fucking situation.
Eddie would know.
Jaw working, he leans in, says, ‘You’re not my type.’
And when he draws away, Steve is laughing, like it’s genuinely funny. He’s got this light sheen of sweat over his skin, it’s glittering. His hair moves, he pushes it back with his hands as his hips sway in time with the rhythm like he’s commanding it and he moves like a siren; a creature who exists only to lure.
‘I’m everyone’s type,’ he tells Eddie, like he just knows it and pities Eddie for lying. ‘To fuck, at least.’

Dustin looked at him, his eyes peeking above the water like two curious ice cubes floating in lemonade.
"Steve... have you considered that maybe you're looking in the wrong catalog? Why not try someone you already know? Someone who doesn't fit into those stupid categories..." His voice lowered slightly, tentative but hopeful. "...like Eddie?"

“No?” Billy cocked his head like a dog, smirk spreading a little wider.
“Pretty sure I can call you whatever the fuck I want,” he breathed, gaze flashing blue and dangerous under lazy, half-closed lids. “And you’ll take it.”
