Dean Winchester is studying for a degree in Auto Mechanics, and needs a stupid GenEd credit for the semester. He ends up in a basic painting course, and the final project is to paint someone who is not a family member. His circle is pretty limited, what with juggling school and work. He could ask Cas, his best friend and roommate, whom he's secretly loved since they met.
Castiel Novak has been in love with Dean since he first set eyes on him, but he knows he's not remotely in the same league. When Dean asks to paint him for a class project, Castiel is thrilled, but terrified. He worries such an endeavor is fraught with the perils of being seen for the lovesick idiot that he is. To make matters worse, due to a misunderstanding, on the day of, he turns up in their living room completely naked, thinking this was the point of the exercise.
What could possibly go wrong?

“Fuck,” someone cursed just as something hit the floor when Castiel reached his own house after his run. All thoughts came crashing to a halt as he instinctively searched for the source of the noise, surprised to see it came from his front door neighbor across the street. Almost a month living across from each other, and this was the first time Castiel ever saw him.
The man, larger and taller than Castiel, with sharp features and toughened edges that called Castiel in, was scowling down at his trash bag intensely, and Castiel wouldn’t be surprised if it caught on fire. His light brown hair was sticking out in every direction, and even though the man was clearly angry and looked like he could catch twenty more hours of sleep, he was adorable in his gray robe and pajama pants with hot dog prints on it.
OR
Castiel is new to the neighborhood, Dean is an awkward mess. A lot of misunderstandings and pining to come.

A promise Castiel isn't sure how he's going to complete. How is Dean going to make Castiel love him? And why is Dean so obsessed with Castiel? Surely he's just playing around, right? He has plenty of pretty women begging for him, and yet, here Dean is, standing with a guitar in his hand, serenading Castiel with love songs.
God, Dean Winchester is a pain in Castiel's ass.
Surprisingly enough, Castiel finds himself liking it.
