“C’mon, Rocky, let’s get you properly cleaned up.”“Jay, I’m fine,” she told him tiredly and she ignored how Sarah scoffed. She pulled at her shirt the same way John B had done, jerked when the fabric stuck to the drying blood that stained her side.
JJ laughed humourlessly, flashed his teeth at her in a grin that showed no mercy. “Like hell you are, Kie, now move before I make you.”
Kie gets herself into a fight and JJ is there to patch her up, of course. In fact, JJ's the only one she'll let help her. A collection of JJ and Kiara patching each other up after their daily disasters.

So while he doesn't doubt that they love each other, he does worry, because being back home brings up a whole other host of issues. And the last time they came back, those differences in their lives pushed them apart. The awareness of how different they were, their families, their lives, everything.
He doesn’t want to let that happen again, but a part of him deep down knows that he can't control it. There’s so many deep seated issues and ideas and thoughts buried in his psyche that a simple I love you – no matter how very not simple it felt at the time – isn’t going to magically solve all those other things.
But when he glances over at Kie as they step off the plane together, feels her fingers laced tightly with his, her comforting smile as though she knows exactly where his mind has gone, well.
Like she said.
Whatever happens, they’re gonna handle it together.

She even stoops so low as to accuse Skull of messing with her Listening abilities (which results in him keeping his irritating opinions to himself for a whole week out of spite).
Yet, deep down, Lucy knows it’s because she’s begun to develop something real for the emotionally suppressed boy who’s been occupying the left side of her bed for months. Inej watched Jesper’s back sway out the door and away from the café, and she couldn’t help but think that she would like to meet Mr. Brekker anyway, just to see if the myth was stranger than its reality.'-
Inej works at a café; it pays, but not enough. But a tricky little offer might be able to get her by.
Kaz has two jobs; he's famous for both, of course, but Lantsov's second son only requires the skills of one. Jesper's a sure shot and Matthias knows how to muscle by, but it's a job for more than his usual three this time. This time, he's going to need a team.
