Summary
Springtime on Pabu was warm and breezy, as well as the time of year when the twins’ birthdays rolled around, so Wrecker, the best, greatest, most fun uncle in the world (no matter Echo’s opinion on the matter) was taking Hunter's kids out for a pre-birthday treat. Or, that was part of the reason why.
The other part of the reason was blonde with blue eyes, looking like a springtime bloom in a pink dress that hugged her curvy figure, and standing just on the other side of the counter.

“Stop pushin’!” Crosshair stopped long enough in his crawl to throw a dagger-like glare over his shoulder. It pierced the cadet who was trying to hurry him along, but that cadet never much minded his younger sibling’s glares anyway and ignored it.
Wrecker’s whisper was in proportion to his size, so it wasn’t much of a whisper at all. “Well, stop being slow!” he put out one hand and nudged Crosshair forward again. “You’re like a snail.”
“You’re bigger than me,” came the answering, offended hiss. “It doesn’t take you so long to get places!”
“Shh!” Hunter growled back at them. “They’re gonna hear us!"

Summary

“Wrecker!”
Echo’s call echoed in his own skull and rattled against his brain but he kept running. His heavy prosthetics felt as light as air as he tore down the slope, his combat boots thudding solidly against the snowy ground.
When he locked his legs and slid the rest of the way to Wrecker’s position, he noted with a sickening feeling in his gut that the snow there was dusted with a spray of bright red.

Wrecker was standing in the middle of the storage room, still hesitating halfway between Ninety-Nine and the door that wasn’t quite closed. There was an hour or so left before curfew, and the bright lights that were recessed into the ceiling above clearly illuminated the distress on the cadet’s face. His big brown eyes were red from crying and his arms were folded tightly in front of him, his hands clenched into fists as his shoulders trembled.
Now Ninety-Nine was more than worried. Fear shot through his veins and his heart stuttered in his chest, a thousand scenarios running through his mind as he scrambled to find a reason for his little brother’s tears. Unfortunately, there were far too many possibilities on Kamino.
“Oh, Wreck’ika,” he said softly. “What’s wrong?”

His day was not going as he had planned, but Romar Adell could adapt. He would help the injured clone and be glad when he and the other deserters left.
Except he didn’t count on talking to the clone, and finding out he had a name. On finding out that maybe, he was just as wrong about the clones as some people were about the Separatists. Romar hadn't planned to hope for reconciliation, and maybe even a chance for peace.
Even if it was at the end of a long, hard path.
Romar couldn't quite keep the snap out of his words as he shot them at the trooper at his table. “We did exist before the war, you know.”
The clone waited a moment before answering, his fingers tapping with annoyance – or was it anxiety? – on the tabletop before they moved to begin working on the data cube.
When the soldier finally spoke, his voice was quiet and blunt.
“I never thought of it like that.” He cleared his throat, his eyes traveling to the opening in the floor where Omega had disappeared back down into the basement. “Perhaps because we did not.”
Romar looked at the man sharply, confusion faintly clouding his eyes.

Tech reminisces about his life during the Clone Wars and all that has happened since while he stays up to take care of his son. Little Darik might be sniffling with a cold, but he inherited Phee's ability to draw Tech out of his too-deep thoughts and bring him back to the present.
A quiet sniffle broke through the nighttime silence, a distinctly uncomfortable sound that was in direct contrast to the peaceful view outside the bedroom window. Tech looked up from his reading, and with a flick of his finger switched the light from his datapad screen to an even dimmer setting. As his eyes adjusted to the darkness that shrouded the room, he yawned – then he exhaled slowly, and listened to the stillness of the room.
No more sniffles. But before his eyes could shift back to the screen, he yawned again.
It surprised him a little, how quickly and happily his body was adjusting to a regular sleep schedule.
The sniffle was louder this time and a single word accompanied it, plaintive as it rose softly over the rustle of soft blankets and very likely a stuffie of sort. "Papa?"
Or, a semi-regular sleep schedule.
