This had always been the hardest part of being Carol Danvers. Or not hardest. Being a pilot with a cunt had been hard, being a woman in love with a pregnant black woman had been hard, telling her daughter to call her Auntie Carol had been hard.
This was Trouble insisting she could eat her cereal with her spoon using her mind. No hands, Auntie Carol, no hands. This was childish, and it was silly. She was out of the shower within minutes, and the only physical sensation she could feel was her skin dry and itching from the soap.
Well, just like sleep, this sort of thing had been easier for Vers.

Some things seem to help, but doing them feels like undoing a knot around your throat, tied to an anchor with your tongue as you sink underwater. Still, it goes on, and slowly that becomes enough.
