Summary
The rabbit-like tempo of Vox’s heart complemented the chugging of blood in Alastor’s ears. If he only focused on that and their shared static, not the implications or the unvoiced wants spawned from a better-left-forgotten history, Alastor could pretend this would work. Even without pretending, Alastor knew his answer. Surely this game would see his victory. What’s that delightful little phrase people use? Third times the charm?
Alastor released him with no further ado. He didn’t hold Vox’s hand for any longer than necessary, nor did he stay in the room. Between two blinks of his eyes, Vox had found himself alone, his heart exposed to the room, while Alastor had to deal with the silent walk to the kitchen. Both of them had gotten what they wanted. Hadn't they?
Or
Vox and Alastor stumble into a relationship of sorts while living in the hotel together, but things get more and more complicated as time goes on.
