this fic has such an insane grip on me and it’s monumentally worse this time around bc i’m reading it as it updates HAHAHA
i’m always at the edge of my seat every chp…u never know what to expect bc while major story beats are based on the og shmk dynamic, it’s still structured very differently. i can’t wait to see how this ends!

Shu brought their hands up, his still caressing Mika’s, and pressed a soft kiss on the back of his hand, lips lingering for just a tad longer than they should have.
Mika squeezed it in shock, trying to keep his composure, but Shu knew he was anything but calm. Perhaps he should have done this later. But he just couldn’t help himself. He’d wanted to kiss him so badly. Still he’d already done too much in front of their audience; he shouldn’t push their luck.
They couldn’t get backstage quickly enough.
Shu kisses Mika's hand after a performance... in front of the audience.

shmk is written so well in this wahhh…!!! it’s rare to see such deep understanding of their characters, without overly indulging in the romantic nuances of it. i found the premise really interesting too, considering how other shmk fics tend to disregard their other underlying connections. for example, hiyori and mika’s shared circle, shu’s odd relationship with his family, and shu’s minor squabble with sena and its impact on his psyche. in a way, it makes it feel as if everything is more grounded and put together. like the world doesn’t just revolve around shmk. it’s very refreshing!
