Throughout his years at the Academy, Viktor has gotten used to the metaphorical space that follows him wherever he goes. When Viktor comes to study at Piltover Academy of Excellence, he is of course assigned to Jayce's dorm. This causes Jayce quite the crisis. So, naturally, he's a disaster about it. His friends are no help.

Kaz tried to stay focused on his task, let the way his fingers had traced over Inej’s be a moment that went unnoticed, but nothing got past the Wraith’s gaze. She rested two fingers on his wrist as he read, their private little signal of asking for touch. Kaz knew all he had to do was shake his head, pull his wrist away, and she would withdraw without a word, without a mention of hurt feelings.
He did not move.

Something had changed.
Kaz knew this. Despite over the years yielding more and more to his leg’s limitations- utilizing his cane, attending physical therapy, even making use of pain medication on really bad days- it had gotten worse. So much so in the past couple months that he couldn’t ignore it.
