Summary
At fifteen, Kiyoomi gets engaged to a stranger.
He's a soldier. He sharpens his sword, practices his drills, watches over his cadets and writes letters to families who lose their children to violence and conflict. He's used to the stability of being on land - sure, steady and unwavering.
At eighteen, he meets Miya Atsumu.
Miya who splashes into his life dramatically, smelling of salt with windswept hair brighter than any gems. Maddingly handsome, unbearably cocky, with a talented tongue that isn't afraid to lash out with a force that is equally matched by the sharp swing of his sword.
It sweeps Kiyoomi off his feet, leaves him in the lurch with something like envy, distaste, and begrudging respect simmering in the pit of his stomach. But he's never been one to step down from a challenge.
Kiyoomi swings his sword back.

"If you didn't want to be a Jaeger pilot, why are you here?"
Doyoung scoffs, stabs his fork into the stiff mountain of mashed potatoes on his tray. "You know why."
Johnny raises an eyebrow, his own potatoes untouched. "That you're in love with Taeyong?"
"What? No." The other recruit throws back the remaining orange juice in his cup, grimaces like he's just taken a particularly strong vodka shot. "It's because he can't fucking take care of himself. The try-outs, the training, all of it was tough, I'm not exactly athletic. But I can't sit by and let my best friend's mom worry herself to death while he rolls into bed recklessly with his Drift-compatible co-pilot, can I?"
The last sentence drops Johnny's heart into the pit of his stomach, lead settling cold as bile rises in his throat at the reminder. Doyoung watches him, eyes sharp under his unruly fringe, discerning and unsympathetic all at once.
"You, on the other hand, need to stop making your feelings for Ten so fucking obvious."

Summary
In movies, it's always two agents paired up for a mission, one that usually involves them going undercover as a happily married couple despite the truly ironic reality reality of these two agents not being able to stand the sight of each other in the office.
This story, however, does not belong to "The Pretend Relationship Trope" Letterboxd list.
There are still two agents involved. However they do not first meet to work on a mission together. It's not that they can barely put up with each other either. In fact, it might be quite the opposite.
This particular story has a different set of movie clichés.
They do however, like all movie clichés, fall in love despite the odds stacked against them.

Summary
Doyoung takes pride in his position as the officially appointed Town Witch, so when a newcomer comes around and sets up his own shop just down the street from Doyoung's and subsequently threatens customers and business, to say that Doyoung is miffed is an understatement. In an attempt to figure out this new witch in town, Doyoung sends his apprentice, Renjun, to poke around, but that unfortunately no yields no result when Renjun develops a fast friendship with Donghyuck - the new witch's apprentice.
Johnny, as Doyoung learns during his first meeting with the new witch, is three things: talented, irritating, and very, very attractive.

The man falters for the first time, like he finds Ushijima’s answer odd — despite being even odder himself — and laughs, infectious and hearty, like Ushijima has made some sort of joke.
One fateful day, a colorful, painfully extroverted young man named Tendou Satori moves into the unit above Ushijima's apartment. He's odd, presumptuous, and — most egregious of all — he's shockingly noisy. And the quiet, scheduled routine Ushijima Wakatoshi lives is forever altered.

He considers the invitation. The image of Atsumu's chest pressed up against his back, the man reaching around to hold his bigger hand over Kiyoomi's to guide him in cutting vegetables. And getting their bowls ready to go sit on the couch while they watch shitty reality TV, with Atsumu's huge thigh pushing up against his as he laughs into his ear and feeds him a bite from his bowl every once in a while.
He might be more than just physically attracted to Miya Atsumu.

Kiyoomi rejects his parents' credit card for the first time since he was born in an effort to prove he does not need their money to sustain himself. When his efforts are in vain and he wonders if he'll even make rent, a certain setter who knows a thing or two about eating on a budget comes the rescue.

Summary
More than being one of the princes of the underwater kingdom of Azua, Doyoung is a simple mer. Despite his privileges, he doesn't covet much - not even the throne. If he allows himself to be dramatic, he may even say having the throne would ruin his life. And in a way, the throne does ruin his life, steals everything from him.
He never thought a human man with a summery smile and an endless supply of swim shorts would help him re-find his sense of self.

John had that gleam in his eyes and that stretch to his grin— the one that would pull another sigh out of Dongyoung as he held back a smile of his own.
“You know…when we’re out like this, the reason people notice you is because they see how handsome and tall I am first.”
Dongyoung rolled his eyes, powerless to stop the laughter bubbling in his chest. “Sure, hyung.”
))It was conceited to say the world moved around the two of them, but Dongyoung cherished how they moved throughout it together. He’d never thought he was wrong. That Johnny walked and Dongyoung was only lucky the sun allowed him to cling desperately to his shadow.
