“Angel, you’re hemorrhaging.” The words come to him through treacle, almost indistinguishable from the pounding in his ears.
A sharp wail cuts through his disoriented haze. Aziraphale’s gaze drifts towards the Moses basket, the motion sending his vision spinning precariously. Gentle fingers on his chin pull his head forwards again.
“You’re bleeding out. Do you understand?”

Summary
At his core, Aziraphale is a Guardian. He had fought battles in Heaven, wielded a flaming sword bestowed unto him by the Almighty Herself. He had witnessed the first human blood spilled west of the land of Nod, matter clinging to stone as brother turned on brother. He had been in the trenches of Verdun; on a rickety vessel wrecked upon the stained sands of Dunkirk; in some nameless town in Belgium, hands steady by the grace of God as he worked to keep a little boy’s insides from spilling out.
Aziraphale’s standing in their second bathroom, the leaky tap they never quite fixed dripping in a steady beat against porcelain — but he’s somewhere else entirely. For a moment, he’s holed up in some long-forgotten church, clothes bloodied, fervent prayers spilling from his lips as he desperately intercedes on behalf of the departed.
Huddled beside the bathtub, Percy clutches a wad of soiled loo roll to his face. Aziraphale can still make out the jagged gash above his brow. The boy sniffles, blood trickling from his nose before falling to the tile below.
“Lord have mercy.”
or, When Aziraphale answers a call from the school, a fight is the last thing he expects.

Summary
“Percy?” Aziraphale’s voice is thick with sleep, but there’s an edge of alarm creeping in. “Are you quite alright?” His voice cracks slightly, the way it always does when his heart is concerned.
Behind him, Crowley doesn’t stir.
Percy freezes, a palpable chill running through his body. His throat tightens painfully, making it impossible to speak.
To his horror, the only response he can give is a weak shake of his head. It only makes the dull ache in his temples worsen. He had planned to make this quick, to slip in, get a bit of comfort from his parents, and leave without disrupting anyone. But now, faltering at the sound of Papa’s voice filled with that quiet, fatherly worry, he can’t seem to pull himself together.
It was never supposed to go like this.
or, Struggling with the implications of adding a new baby to the mix, eldest child Percy performs the smallest of miracles on himself. The goal was to be just sick enough to get a little love and attention from his parents. Things rapidly get out of hand.

So, in the middle of a crowded street in Chiswick, a demon pauses — a cataclysmic surge of misery rippling through the ether in resounding waves.
And as sure as the earth turns and the rivers flow, Crowley answers Aziraphale’s call.
