After many lackluster performances from the Metros these past few months, it only makes sense…”
The anchor continues as a clip of Rozanov from a post-game interview last year plays—he’s shirtless and sweaty, smirking into the camera. And then he does that…that wink. Shane just stares up at the screen, dumbfounded. He’s not listening to the details anymore, but the words echo in his head.
Metros to acquire Ilya Rozanov…
His team to acquire Rozanov.

He nuzzles against the exposed skin of his neck, inhaling the scent that clings to his suit jacket collar. It’s perfect.
“...Hollander,” He hears Rozanov say, urgent like it’s not the first time he’s said it. “Shane,” he follows it up with, and that snaps him out of it. He’s never called him that. Shane, reluctantly, lifts his face a little, eyes glazed over as he meets Rozanov’s eyes.
“What?”
“You stink,” Rozanov says, concern dripping. “No, you—fuck. You reek. What is—” Ilya’s fingers lift up, tugging at the scent patch, revealing more of the spot beneath it. Even Shane can smell himself at that point. He does reek. Reeks of heat, of Omega, of honey and sweetness, of something that would melt on your tongue.
Shane reefs himself back. The Omega inside him aches, mourns, whimpers at the loss of contact. It’s needed, though. He scrambles back, hand slapping at his neck to force the peeled patch back down over his scent gland. He backs up till his spine knocks against the bathroom stall.
“You are in heat at award show? Why would you hide this? Why would you not call out sick? Are you—are you insane? You care this much about trophy?”

“Yes?” Jean Moreau’s voice is hoarse, tinny through the phone, and his accent shortens the reply by a half-syllable, but it doesn’t matter. Because he is an idiot, Jeremy’s heart swoops into his stomach. Again. Like every other time he hears the word. He takes an embarrassingly long moment to collect himself, breathing out through his nose and ignoring the phantom tingling on the inside of his left thigh. It’s not happening.

"You could have kicked the comforter off if you were hot," Jeremy said, before Jean felt a rush of cold air, the warmth of the comforter stripped away.
"I'm freezing," he shivered, burrowing in closer to Jeremy's body heat and making a half-hearted attempt to blindly reach for the comforter. His arm felt so heavy that it only took seconds to give up and just accept whatever body heat Jeremy could supply.
"Hey, sweetie," Jeremy pulled away, and Jean felt his hand gently grip his chin so he could look at him. "You're really pale. Are you feeling okay?"
"'M fine," Jean grumbled, eyes still closed, though he could feel the concern radiating off of Jeremy. "Need to get up for class."
A soft pressure on his forehead startled him. "You're warm."
Jean finally allowed his eyes to flutter open and was met with a golden brown set that always seemed to find him. Right now, he wished they would let him go, because whatever he found in Jean's eyes made his brows furrow.
"Are you sick?"

Or Jean is very resistant to letting Jeremy care for him, but as the day wears on he can't help but lean into it.

“Look at me,” It was a gentle request, almost a question when it came from Jeremy’s lips, his hand only complimenting the tone used when he caresses Jean’s cheek. He takes a moment to gather himself, to push away any potential thoughts that might want to interfere with it. The look he was met with wasn’t the same that it was a few seconds ago—the smile was still there but barely, a sweet ghost of it against Jeremy’s lips that had Jean give pause, leaning slightly into the hand still gently holding his face.
“It’s enough,” and Jean almost pulls back, misunderstanding before Jeremy makes a sound of disapproval for it and he shakes his head. “No, Jean,” and he drags his thumb across his cheekbone, that adoring look never leaving his eyes. “This is enough. Whether you want to move forward or not, it’s enough. Just thinking about going on a date is enough. Baby steps.”
