When the series ends, he finds he's unsatisfied with its conclusion, and seeks to remedy that by publishing a work to his favorite fanzine that gives the series the end he feels it should have had.

There's time to kill so Tarquin enters, parks himself on a seat by the bar and orders the dockside special—two fingers of the cheapest whiskey, topped off with the cheapest ale. It comes with a slab of bread fried in bacon fat and drizzled with honey.
It's too delicious to be any good for him, but regret is tomorrow's problem.
