Summary
Since he was young Luffy knew three things. One, he was going to be the King of the Pirates. Two, his pirate crew would be the best pirate crew ever. And three, the world was stupid.
At sixteen Luffy knew a fourth thing and that was that he wasn't going to let the world tell him what he should do as an omega. He didn't care if several of the bandits wanted to sell him or if Dadan grumbled about him refusing to take his suppressants or if Gramps was all but ripping his hair out because Luffy wouldn't listen to him, he was going to do what he wanted and it wasn't going to be what the world thought he should do. He was going to be the King of the Pirates.
Or, Luffy is an omega in a world that hates omegas but he's not going to let that get in the way of his dream of being the King of the Pirates.

Or: A One Piece Fix-it AU where instead of just chucking his vivre card at Luffy and leaving, Ace also makes a vivre card for Luffy. Unfortunately for Ace, Luffy is a chaotic menace who can't stay out of trouble. Ace has a crewmate killer to catch, but he can't seem to get three feet away before Luffy's vivre card bursts into flames and does the weirdest shit imaginable. Needless to say, his revenge quest against Blackbeard is side tracked.

Law stepped closer to him, his words catching in his throat, his mouth so incredibly dry. This was maddening. This was insanity. “You aren't Luffy, are you?”
Luffy frown deepened, his eyes growing glossy for a moment, and for that split second Law felt like he had been wrong until he spoke.
“You shouldn't have scanned my brain, Traffy,” Luffy’s voice sounded eerily distant. His big dark brown eyes flashed with color, a red ting behind his black pupils. A deer caught in headlights. A mimic caught red handed. “I thought I impersonated him perfectly…”
As the words left Luffy’s mouth, so did smoke- no, steam- as it was hot as it bellowed from his parted lips. His pupils flashed a brighter red, as one eye began to morph and shift before Law’s widened and horrified gaze.
His left eye, right above his familiar scar, began to bubble into a white flowy substance, elevating upwards, almost like clouds. Like pulled and stretched cotton.
This wasn't Luffy. Luffy was gone. Law’s mind felt like it was breaking.
A world without Luffy. That isn't possible.

At the question (or maybe just Nami, a reprieve from talking to Zoro—who he's still vaguely afraid of) Usopp perks up. “Kind of! I mean, yeah—the big Sun God in the Trench. But also the sea gods themselves, and the missing Moon God—it’s a whole thing,” he says, waving his hands as Nami crosses the deck, book tucked under her arm. Usopp trails off again but she gestures him onward and plops next to Zoro, dangling her feet over the open water, too.
“Go on,” she says.
He stares at them both before letting out a strangled kind of, “Do you actually want to know?”
Zoro and Nami exchange a look. “We have a keen interest in the local wildlife,” Zoro drawls, and Nami snorts out a laugh. The sound startles Usopp, who might be one of the most skittish people Zoro has ever met—second only to Koby, maybe.
Nami elbows Zoro in the side, trying (and failing) to hide her smile as he flips her the middle finger in return. “Local legends, then,” she amends.

Summary
It was a complicated feeling, Ace knew from experience. At one time you instantly loved them, but it was also overwhelming. The connection, or connections tugged from something deep in your core. You could feel them all- strings of all colors conveying emotion along them, the intent and tone of the words, and if you focused on it, the emotions of your partners. Their longings and joys and sorrows became your own.
It could be terrifying, but also joyous because you weren't ever alone.
“There's four!” Luffy beamed.
Ace took his brother's wrist and turned his arm, counting the different sets of handwriting. “Three.”
And a strange look came over Luffy's face, concentration, concern, but at the same time confident in his assessment. “No, definitely four… I can feel them.”

This was usually where Zoro would blow him off, sneer under his breath about how Mihawk didn’t know a thing, and then go to fight some monkeys.
But, special was not the word to describe Luffy. He was limitless in his possibilities, his presence. He was everything and everywhere and Zoro was nothing without him.
“He is.” Zoro said, and he had never meant anything more.
Or: Zoro has known Luffy through several lifetimes. He loves him in every single one.
