“That’s number four, Bokuto Koutarou, who clinches the set for Fukurodani!” the announcers cheer, and Akaashi memorizes the name, lets it burn through him like fireworks in the night. He can’t take his eyes off of Bokuto Koutarou for the rest of the match, and when Fukurodani leaves the court at 2-0 Akaashi finds himself wanting to follow, an urge so powerful that his friends beside him actually ask in alarm if he’s alright because he’s halfway out of his seat before he realizes what’s even happening.

Summary
A series with long, overarching plots, C'est La Vie 5 is the product of years of character retooling, research, and refining. What starts with the traumatic death of the fathers of Amamiya Ren, Futaba, and Shinya leads into the discovery of a terrible family secret. The Amamiya patriarchs touched many lives throughout the series, notably Arisato Minako, herself struggling with an ailing brother. Her boyfriend is hiding secrets of his own about his former life, and those secrets are starting to come out of the shadows. Aragaki Shinjiro left that life behind, however, and is not at all interested in former gang member Urameshi Yuusuke’s seeking a job at the LGBTQ haven the Stray Sheep in a seemingly genuine attempt to turn his life around. All Nishikado Sojiro wants to do is fix his two best friends up but they're both being stupidly difficult about it, to the point where even shy Kuragi Machi has to say something to them. Meanwhile, a series of murders around Tokyo has Commissioner Sato Makoto more on edge than her boss's pressures on her to perform, because they have no leads and a growing pile of bodies.

In front of them, amongst some flowers, a boy plays happily with a large, furry dog, lone strawberry lying abandoned on the paved floor. In the distance, clouds weave gracefully through the mountaintops, filtering light through.
Suna’s gaze lingers on the waterfront, catching sunlight on his cheekbones, in his eyes, and on the tip of his cupid’s bow. For a brief moment, Osamu contemplates if he should share his ice cream with him.

When Atsumu plans a non-refundable road trip and is unable to make it at the very last minute, Osamu has no choice but to carry on solo, or invite someone else to go along with him. So invite someone else he does. No prizes for guessing who that would be.

“Tell me again ‘bout the spermy frog babies.”
Kiyoomi sighed. Why he’d allowed Atsumu to sit right next to him was one of life’s greatest mysteries. There were enough seats on the train for everyone to have plenty of breathing room. An even greater mystery was why Kiyoomi had agreed to come out with Atsumu to Onigiri Miya in the first place.
“Are you referring to tadpoles?” Kiyoomi deadpanned. “They’re not sperm. They’re juvenile frogs.”
“I like the part where they get two legs,” Atsumu grinned. “Look like a snake finally able t’do pushups.” He demonstrated, as if Kiyoomi didn’t do pushups every other day. It made Atsumu’s pecs swell through the thin layer of his white t-shirt, clearly visible from where his jacket was flung open, even in the cold weather. Not that Kiyoomi was looking. He pulled the collar of his jacket up over his mask, as if he were hiding his face with another layer.

Okay, so Noya was the first to admit that putting on a haunted house for the cultural festival wasn't the most inspired idea. But doing so in the basement? Dressed as... a werewolf zombie thingy, scaring the pants off people? That sounded kinda dope to Noya. And dope it was, right up to the moment where all the lights went out, and he was left guiding a scaredy cat of a guy through the dark. Welp.
