Summary
After defeating Chuck, Dean expects that Jack, who is now the new God, will be able to bring back Cas, but unfortunately, Jack can’t. The entity of the Empty has managed to hide Cas from Jack, and all he can do, is wait for the entity of the Empty to make a mistake and release its grip on Castiel, which might take at least a century.
Dean, shattered by the fact that he is going to have to live his life without Cas, mourning him for the rest of his days, drowns himself into the unforgiving and painful sea of grief. And as much as he wants to give up on life, he forces to keep going, because he doesn’t want Cas’ sacrifice to be for nothing, even if the simple act of breathing hurts.
Unable to stay in the bunker anymore, haunted by the many memories he shared with Cas, Dean leaves the bunker and ends up buying a house near a lake. The house needs a lot of restoration, but Dean decides to work on it, hoping that if Cas is ever brought back from the Empty, he will have a nice home to come back to, even if Dean is no longer alive.

Summary
Dean and Cas drive to Vermont to investigate a case involving a djinn. Unfortunately, when they get where the djinn hides, they get separated and the djinn finds Dean and puts him to sleep.
When Dean wakes up, he finds that his dream consists of living in a nice house in the woods with Cas, who he is happily married to. Dean knows he has to leave the dream as soon as possible, but he is secretly in love with Cas and the dream is offering him everything his heart wants.
Dean decides to remain in the dream for a day and then leave, just so he can know what it feels like to be with Cas for a little while. He only hopes that Cas doesn’t end up getting in his dream to save him, because that would definitely ruin their friendship.

“I think I want to build a house.”
Cas looks up from his book, surprised: probably both that Dean spoke, and by the words that he said. “What about the bunker?”
“Not enough windows.” Dean shifts, hospital gown crinkling. His jello cup sits half-eaten on the white tray in front of him. “Now that there’s no Devil or God or cosmic threat—I want windows.”
Shutting his book, laying it on his lap, Cas asks, “Do you have a property in mind?”
“Yeah.” Dean picks up the jello cup again, spooning the red, wobbly stuff into his mouth. “Yeah, I know a place."

Cas is human. Dean doesn't die on the rebar. Together, they rebuild.

“I think,” Cas grits out, “that the spell requires me to say the truth. I’ve been trying to suppress it with my grace, but it’s… not working.”
“Got it,” Dean says, nodding, because he can work with this. “Yeah. Sure. So give me some truths. Some stupid little ones.”
Cas narrows his eyes. “Such as?”
“Like, I dunno, what’s your favorite color?”
Cas’s face somehow goes stonier. “Green,” he ekes out.
Dean clears his throat. Blinks a few times. “Oh.”

"I'm saying that I want to try it again."
Dean snaps his head up. "You what now?"
"My solution," Cas says carefully, "is that instead of showing each other violence, we show each other... the opposite."
“The opposite,” Dean says. “Like…”
“Sex.”
Dean sucks in a breath. "Oh," he squeaks out.

Dean helps Cas recover from Rowena's attack dog spell. Cas has an interesting proposition.
