Hawke had always told him that he couldn’t blame magic for every wrong in the world. “Magic can be both the destroyer and healer,” she had said, “both the rain and the flood. Would you curse the existence of water in its entirety, or merely dread the flood?”
He could blame magic, the Fade, mages, all of it. His white-hot hatred burned within him, igniting his lyrium markings more. But though he felt that magic was responsible for Hawke’s death, there was part of Fenris that knew he was also to blame.

But what started as casual nonsense becomes a much deeper conversation about where they belong in Hawke's life. And each other's.
