Summary
Eddie glances back up and finds Buck’s attention already fixed on him in the mirror. Buck smiles at him, eyes big and wide and sparkly, as he holds his hands up and asks-
“What do you think?”
Eddie’s gaze flickers between Buck’s eyes, and the blue, purple, and pink heart that’s been placed ever so carefully on his cheek, just beneath his left eye. It draws Eddie’s attention to Buck’s birthmark - to the lovely, pink angel kiss that he always wants to reach out and touch…to press his lips to. Buck looks so good that Eddie can’t keep it to himself.
(Or, Buck and Eddie get ready for pride together. Some confessions are made along the way.)

Summary
After a while, he whispers it, barely louder than the rustle of his sheets.
A wish, a prayer, maybe it’s a plea.
“I want to know everything.”
It spills out of him in the stillness that follows, not loud, not dramatic, just the quiet truth of it.
“I wish you’d let me know you. I wish you trusted me with the parts you never show. The fears you don’t name. The secrets you keep buried so deep even you don’t look at them for long.
I wish I’d known you before life made you flinch. Before war and heartbreak, before your smile got quieter. I wish I’d seen the kid you were, so I could understand how you became the man I’m—
Buck pauses, the words catching in his throat.
—the man I’ve fallen in love with, without a shred of logic or timing or self-preservation.
I wish you’d let me know you.”
Or; Buck makes a wish and it comes true. So he spends the following twenty four hours with Eddie aging up three years every time he falls asleep.

Summary
There had always been a thread connecting Buck and Eddie together.
From the moment they met, it was just BuckandEddie. No space between them. Through every disaster, every close call, every time the world tilted sideways—they felt it. Just an invisible string keeping the two tethered as one.
Neither of them ever expected that line to break.
And they certainly never thought it breaking would end with Buck getting swallowed whole by hundreds of pounds of rubble.
Or a rewrite of 8x18 where the zip line breaks and Buck gets trapped beneath the rubble.

Summary
Eddie throws his bag on the bench and opens his locker with more force than necessary. He can feel Hen and Chim’s matching looks of scrutiny, and doesn’t even give them time to ask before falling onto the bench and saying, “I think Buck’s mad at me.”
“I was wondering where he was.”
“What’d you do?”
Eddie shrugs, sparing a glance at Hen because he knows Chin’s not going to offer any sympathy. “I don’t even know.”
She winces. “Not a good start.”

Summary
He pries his eyes away from the almost glowing sight of the orange juice; the overhead light of the fridge glows directly into the nearest glass, and Eddie feels as if he’s a moth drawn to a flame. And like a moth, he can’t tell if the light that attracts him will burn at the touch.
“Dad? Why are you just standing there with the fridge open?” Chris asks, nearly startling Eddie off his feet.

Summary
After a dramatic warehouse rescue goes viral, Eddie Diaz becomes the last person in Los Angeles—and certainly the last at the 118—to realize the footage of him and Buck reads less like "partner heroics" and more like "romantic climax of a blockbuster movie." Between Christopher’s gleeful teasing, Pepa’s "I told you so" smirks, and the firehouse’s months-long betting pool (Hen’s Thanksgiving prediction edges out Chimney’s Christmas gamble), Eddie’s denial crumbles under the weight of literal video evidence. But when Buck’s nervous avoidance finally collides with Eddie’s epiphany, the crew gets more than a payout—they get front-row seats to a kiss that’s been brewing since the day a blue-eyed probie walked into the station and rewrote Eddie’s definition of family.

Summary
When Evan "Buck" Buckley rescues a scraggly, half-feral cat from a dumpster behind his apartment, he doesn’t expect the ragged creature—dubbed Chester—to upend his life. With his patchy fur, asymmetrical face, and a penchant for chaos, Chester is a walking disaster. But as Buck navigates midnight vet panics, shredded furniture, and the cat’s uncanny ability to trigger both laughter and existential dread, he finds himself confronting old fears of abandonment and the terrifying vulnerability of caring for something fragile.
Meanwhile, Eddie Diaz watches quietly as Buck’s determination to save this broken cat mirrors his own journey toward healing. When a near-tragedy forces them to confront the depth of their feelings, Chester becomes the unlikely bridge between two hearts learning to trust that love doesn’t have to end in loss.

When firefighters Evan "Buck" Buckley and Eddie Diaz keep "rescuing" each other from awkward encounters by fake-dating, they don't expect the bit to stick—or for their found family at the 118 to start taking bets on when they’ll crack. From fending off overzealous admirers at frat parties to shutting down homophobic protesters at a Pride parade, their "relationship" becomes the station’s favorite slow-burn drama.

Summary
He feels weightless for a second when his truck flips over, and for some inexplicable reason, he thinks back to when he was a kid. Whenever someone asked him what superpower he wanted if he could have any one, he always said flying. Flying didn’t end up being that fun, though. Not in a shot down helicopter, and certainly not in an overturning vehicle. He meant flying, like, in the sky and maybe with a cool pair of wings, but he never really gets what he wants. He gets what he wants but a little off-kilter, maybe 50% of what he was hoping for with some significant changes.
It’s getting a little funny.
Eddie tries to go to Texas. What do you get when you cross a man and an eighteen-wheeler truck?

Summary
Adriana doesn’t tell their parents that she’s going to LA. She doesn’t tell Eddie, either—or ask, for that matter.
She does ask Chris, and he thinks it’s a good idea—says as much, on the phone, and doesn’t say much else.
“Buck will probably be hovering,” is what Chris does volunteer.
It still surprises her when the man who opens the door is not Eddie. It’s—Captain America, is the thing that actually comes to mind—a man close to a foot taller than she is, if not more than that, with blond curls and broad shoulders, and he’s got a question in his very blue eyes that’s probably less friendly than the one he actually asks her.
“Uh,” he says. “Can I help you?”
—
Or: Adriana arrives in LA. Maddie has been here the whole time.

Summary
Buck kissed him for — for some reason. Eddie’s not really sure why. He can’t parse the hows and the whys of that right now when he needs to snap Buck out of a spiral.
“Buck, you need to calm down,” Eddie says. Buck just makes a miserable noise. “Can you look at me for a sec?”
“No can do,” Buck says, voice tight. “I’m too busy trying to figure out how to fake my own death.” Despite himself, Eddie snorts and Buck whirls around, affronted. “Eddie, I’m being so serious right now. This is one of the top most embarrassing moments of my life.”
Or: Buck kisses Eddie over a kettle. Eddie’s straight.

The Buckley parents crash Maddie and Chimney's baby shower. It goes as well as you expect it to.
**
"Well," Margaret sniffed after taking another long drink from her glass, "Evan gave away the rights to the child he helped bring into the world already."
"I didn't have any rights, Mom," Buck replied through gritted teeth. "I just helped out a couple of friends who wanted to be parents."
"And besides," Margaret continued, as though Buck hadn't spoken, "with his new...romantic preferences, it would be impossible."
"What the hell is that supposed to mean?" Buck asked, voice raised.
"There are other ways to have a child, Mom," Maddie said. "It's 2025, for Christ's sake."
"Still," their mother huffed, picking up the wine glass in front of her, "Evan can't keep a relationship longer than 6 months. Maybe if he wasn't so hard to love, he could keep somebody that actually wanted him."

Summary
Eddie loved his son. He loved his son so, so much. He would never stop fighting for his son. It didn’t matter if his helicopter was getting shot down in a desert halfway across the world, or if he was nearly drowning while trapped under thirty feet of mud, or if he was crawling on hands and knees back to El Paso in contrition, he was going to do whatever it took to be with Christopher.
But he had also just kissed Buck for the first time ninety minutes ago, and he was supposed to have 1,440 more minutes of kissing before they had to go back to the real world. Eddie had waited seven years for this, he wanted twenty-four hours of uninterrupted necking with the love of his life, god dammit.

“The clinic thinks…” Connor hesitated, biting his lip as he stroked his sons hair. “They think your… um… your stuff…”
Dear God. Someone shoot him now.
“…was probably mixed up with someone else’s,” Connor finished.
“Like a Jane the Virgin type mix-up!” Kameron added, laughing.
She laughs, like this is funny and there isn’t some random kid that’s biologically his running around somewhere that he didn’t agree too.
His skin crawls as a wave of nausea hits him. Bile rises in his throat and he swallows hard, trying to push it back down. Desperate to steady himself, he grabs his drink and takes a small sip, hoping it will calm the churning in his stomach.
“Yeah, except this isn’t a TV show,” Eddie snapped, his voice cold and sharp. “This is Buck’s actual life. It’s not a joke.”

Eddie left, and Buck had to learn how to live with it. With an empty house, with quiet nights, with the aching space Eddie used to fill.
So he moved on. Or at least, he tried. He found new distractions, new hands to hold him down, new lips to whisper his name.
But then Eddie came back. And suddenly, none of it feels like enough.
