“This... whole saint of quiet suffering thing. Being soft with me. Like I’m gonna crumble if you raise your voice.” Tony stared back down into the tea like it might answer for him. “I’m not glass, Rogers.”
“No,” Steve said, and this time his voice had weight. “You’re not. You’re iron.”
Tony looked up. Pulse skipped. Not from fear. From recognition.
Steve held his gaze—steady, grounded, real.
“And iron cracks too,” he finished, “if no one cools it down.”

Bucky Barnes has issues. Mental health issues, and a whole lot of them, to be precise.
Bucky is fucked up, and he knows that. His apartment looks like a dumping ground on most days, he can’t sleep through the night, sometimes he doesn’t shower for six days and doesn’t leave the house except to see his therapist once a week. Mostly, Bucky has no idea how the whole “talking about your problems” thing is supposed to help him, but sometimes his therapist has some really great ideas.
Like getting a dog.
Which is how Bucky meets Steve. Steve has blond hair and shoulders as broad as Bucky’s future if he wouldn’t suffer from depression and multiple mental disorders, and a waist as small as Bucky’s self-esteem. Steve also has a yellowish dog with floppy ears called Sunshine. And sunshine makes its way into Bucky’s life with a bounce in its step.Bookmarked by captkey

The thing that gets Tony the most is how long it takes him to notice.
Not Steve, or even the other Avengers, but Tony himself. It takes Tony almost two whole weeks to figure out that he’s unable to disobey a direct order from Steve, which just- what the hell is that? What happened to the days when he flew off the handle, unable to play well with others, a notorious wild card?
“God, don’t tell me I’m getting old and predictable,” he says, rubbing a hand over his forehead. And then, “Fuck.”
A mostly-comedic farce involving: 1 obedience spell, 2 pining Avengers, 1 long-suffering Sorcerer Supreme, and 1 single, extravagant Saint Patrick's Day float.
