Nya turns to face him, a clear thought on her mind.
“Which means it’s all still there…”
“Would it be too soon for you to go back there?”

Martin was the self-sacrificial type. He was the one who woke up every night just to pull Chris out of a nightmare. He was the one who tested the more questionable technology Aviva whipped up. He was the one who took on extra tasks when someone wasn’t feeling well. He was the one who would take the blame when the brothers landed themselves in trouble. He was the one who would carry the burdens of everyone else around him, while locking his own away in a dark corner, and never once complain.
And Chris knew for a fact, the only reason Martin didn’t trade places with him when Diego dragged him away and locked him within his own mind was because his brother couldn’t work miracles.
But Chris didn’t think he could share this burden with Martin.
He decided he wouldn’t even give him the choice.

She turns back to look at him from where she was already heading towards the door. "Hm?"
"I am very glad you're okay," he says with a soft grin.
Nya pauses, unsure of how to respond, because she's not okay, and she doesn't think she'll ever be okay.
But... maybe that's okay.
In which Nya tries to heal, to love, to be human again. With the help of her family, of course.

Briefly, Kai wondered if he was dead or dreaming and being tortured in some hallmark haunted house. Seriously, who asks that question in real life?
“Hm? Do what?”
“Stay.” She clarified, “why did you stay and raise me when our parents disappeared?”

Basically, Kai helps Nya do her hair for a date she has later that night, and they talk. Nya has some questions that have been nagging at her, and she finally gets to ask Kai why he stayed, when even their own parents couldn't be bothered.
(That summary might be a poor description of the actual fic, but I don't know how to explain this without just, rewriting the fic...)
