Komaeda was beyond shocked. He doesn’t mean it to happen. He just wanted to offer Hinata a drink. It was an accident. Despite the panicked thoughts flooding his mind, he can’t stop his mouth from brushing it off like their usual bickering.
“ah, ahaha..ha, how unfortunate for Hinata-kun to be drenched in despair. That’s how someone from a worthless Reserve course should be-“ Komaeda quickly shuts his mouth as Hinata lifted up his face towards him.
If a look could kill, he would be gone the moment that usually pair of gentle green eyes lays on him. He could’ve sworn he saw the flash of hurt, disdain, tired all mixed together before it comes to a sharp, eerie stare.Hinata had enough.

It's the final stage, Nagito knows it: he feels so weak that walking more than five minutes leaves his vision blurry and him hyperventilating. so weak that over 12-hour sleeps are becoming common. Nagito wakes up to his sheets drenched in sweat. Nagito has started fainting randomly and spends the end of those days with terrible migraines. One day, he coughs up a sunflower seed (Hajime's favorite flower!) and figures out, why not plant it and grow a sunflower field, Hajime's own little haven?
Nagito should have known the extent of his luck's cruelty.

"You're looking at me with such... hope, Hinata-kun," Nagito whispered, a small, self-serving smirk tugging at his lips. "It’s almost enough to make someone as worthless as me believe they deserve to be touched by you."
Hajime didn't argue. He didn't have the energy to navigate Nagito's labyrinth of logic anymore. Instead, he took a step forward, the floorboards creaking under his weight, and reached out to catch Nagito's chin. He wanted to replace that talk of hope and despair with something visceral, something that would finally quiet the noise in both their heads.

It’s kind of cute, the way Hinata purposefully avoids Komaeda’s sharp gaze. It’s even cuter when he breaks off a small piece of the granola bar, apparently subconsciously, and starts to bring it up towards Komaeda’s lips.
“Does Hinata-kun want to put his fingers in my mouth?” Komaeda hums—to which the hand that was so delicately making its way toward his mouth halts suddenly, the connected face falling into some mix of incredulousness and mortification. Quickly flushing cheeks and wide eyes, staring at Komaeda like they’re lost. Komaeda’s smile twitches upwards a little, halfway pleased at how quickly he’s turned the tables between them.

But even as Nagito keeps pushing him away, Hajime isn’t the type to give up so easily.
