The insurmountable sound of the roof caving in, the support beams failing, and the marble decorations shattering around him seemed to stop all at once. There was nothing but silence. Cold, abrupt, threatening silence.
As quickly as it had begun, the disaster simply ceased.

It was on the desk that he found the video recorder. It was old, probably from their days as students, and had stickers all over the side. Shiro remembered when Adam would record videos on their missions. Maybe some of those were still on the drive.
But when Shiro turned on the camera, he didn’t see the expected sixteen-year-old Adam grinning in the now-outdated Garrison ships. Instead, he saw an Adam he recognized a lot more, older with more worry on his face. He looked sad—destroyed even—but maybe a little hopeful.
The video was dated April 6, 2313. The day the Kerberos mission left.
