The room felt impossibly small, the TV flickering light casting shadows that danced across their skin, snow whispering outside, and in the middle of it all, Mizuki’s touch was a silent, teasing gravity that Ena couldn’t resist….even if she wanted to.

Mira stopped her, "Sit, I'll clean up." Zoey handed her plate over without question and stretched out on the couch with her phone. Mira went to take the dishes Rumi had gathered, but she didn't let go.
"What? No, you pulled this miracle of a breakfast together after I almost set it on fire, let me clean." She went to rise and take the dishes back from Mira, but the taller girl stood firm.
"I appreciate the thought, but the last time you did the dishes, we were down two plates and you somehow bent a pair of stainless steel chopsticks." A sly smile pulled at Mira's lips as she recalled 'chopstick-gate 2024'. "I got it."
She pulled on the plate again, but Rumi still wouldn't let go.
"Cmon Mira, you cooked, let me clean. Or at least let me -"
"Rumi." Mira's voiced dropped low, and her tone pulled Rumi's gaze up to meet her own. "Drop it."
Rumi blinked up at her and her traitorous hand loosened without her permission. Her patterns flared a dark but vivid pink for an instant, and she said a meek "Thank you."
Mira simply hummed in acknowledgement and turned towards the kitchen before Rumi could catch the smirk creeping across her face. Zoey smiled, she knew that tone all too well.

Mizuki couldn’t open her eyes. Not when her fingertips stung, and her body felt immeasurably heavy. Instead she sagged weakly into her rescuer’s hold, and they let out a relieved breath.
She was alive.
That was the only sign they needed, before they began their march through the sleet, Mizuki bundled in their arms.

She’s aware of Ajax’s eyes on them from the courtyard. Wednesday doesn’t make any move to pull away, but instead meets his bewildered gaze over Enid’s shoulder -

Rumi accepted this lie, knowing that revealing her secret would cost both her and Celine their lives.
While the kingdom generally accepted their king’s more feminine facial features, the lack of a queen was something that simply could not be tolerated. At the late age of twenty-five, their king needed to be married and producing heirs and both Celine and Rumi knew that they would have to acquiesce to their courtiers' demands or face civil unrest.

Summary
Every since Zoey and Mira found out about her patterns, Rumi's noticed that their dynamic is... different.
Rumi tries to chalk it up to her seeing what their friendship is like when she's not building up walls, but it's a little more intimate that she thought it would be. Not only that, but she begins to suspect that Mira and Zoey might be romantically involved, and something about that makes her jealous, but she can't figure out what.
Mira is convinced that Rumi is still hiding something other than her patterns. All she knows is that it has something to do with the three of them.
Zoey thinks that all three are already dating and is trying to get Rumi to be more open to affection from the two of them, but she still seems apprehensive.
