None of the professors know who exactly started it, but they do know when it started. One day, Valentine’s Day to be exact, the students of Hogwarts watched Professor Potter receive a ton of fan mail. At first it seemed cute to the students, and how amazing was it that so many people admired their professor. But then someone saw the unhappy look on his face. The students later realized people were trying to love potion their professor who just wanted to be left alone. And thus the, very unofficial, Protect Professor Potter Club was born.

If newborn dragon hatchlings are abandoned for any particular reason (the mother could've been killed, certain species of dragons bury their eggs in the sand to fend for themselves once they hatch, etc), they will immediately adapt to the environment so that their chances of survival are guaranteed. This can mean burying themselves even further into the sand, becoming invisible, or even shapeshifting.
