Summary
Kepler tried not to think, and so all he could do was stare at the floor. It was the raw cement floor of a musty basement, the type that was never quite dry not even in the summer heat of August. The cement had an odd shade of brown, a patchy and uneven hue. 'Bloodstains', he thought.
Kepler gets kidnapped, and wakes up in a dingy basement, where his captors are willing to use any means necessary to get the information they are after.
