Summary
It should be a quick, clean job. Get in, get what he needs, get out, move on. But then, Lucanis should be in Treviso, not riding a crowded Minrathous rail line towards the inner city. On several fronts, things are off plan.
Lucanis works alone (except when he doesn't). Rook isn't supposed to be working at all (except she kinda is). Teaming up would be ridiculous. Crazy. It's not going to happen.
(It's happening.)

Prompt responses, short one-shorts, drabbles, and other brief moments with the Veilguard crew that don't have a place of their own to live. All pairings, characters, and spoilers are fair game. (I'll flag entries with a rating above a T or specific tag warnings in the chapter summary.)

Summary
Rook breaks a lot of rules, but rarely her own. She’s got a few: No getting involved with anyone while on the road. No one she’s not pretty sure she could take in a fight. Nothing serious.
No exceptions.
(…one exception.)

Summary
Rook’s seated at the edge of the chaise as he eases the door open, elbows on her knees and her shoulders curved inwards. Her head rests against laced fingers, turned away, towards the water. If she hears him come in, she gives no sign.
His legs won't move. Spite doesn't even bother waiting to argue it; he’s halfway across the space between them before the edges of his form have solidified, reaching for her with an outstretched hand that halts to hover just above her shoulder. Rook, he sighs, but it doesn’t feel like relief.
“I cannot believe we found you,” he says.

Summary
Lucanis does feel guilty, sometimes. Spite can smell, taste, hear. See clearly, once Lucanis got out of the way. To feel, though… it just doesn't seem to come across the same. Maybe that's what happens, when you get forced into a mind actively pulling as far away from the body it's inhabiting as hard as it possibly can. Or maybe it's just a spirit thing. That's a preferable thought. Less likely—but preferable.
Spite, at least, doesn't seem too bothered by it. And it has been a somewhat convenient misalignment, occasionally. In a fight, unbothered by an injury. At the end of a particularly long day, easing protesting muscles and joints into a tub of ice water without worrying about objection. And with sex. Convenient, that Spite finds it puzzling and pointless, at best. Boring, usually.
The problem, of course, is Rook. Spite might find sex odd and uninteresting, but Rook? He's turned towards her like the sun from the first moment.
So, really—Lucanis should have seen this coming.

Summary
"You were a Warden to the end, Davrin. A hero. But you were a lot more than that to me. You were my future. We couldn't find any trace of you. Maybe it's just hope, but whatever happens…I love you, Davrin. I always will."
It's been five months since the Battle of Minrathous. Thedas is recovering from the destruction of the Evanuris and the Blight. Treviso, especially, is rebuilding at a rapid pace after suffering from the blighted dragon attack.Lucanis is going through the motions as First Talon of the Antivan Crows, doing what is expected of him but detached from his current reality. It isn't until he finds out that Rook is missing that he begins to reevaluate what it means to be a Crow and a Dellamorte.
And Rook? She's as alone as she's always been. Just as she was before Varric and Harding dragged her on a quest to stop Solas. She just didn't expect it to be so hard this time around.

Summary
For over a year, branded by the Fade and beset at all sides by the end of the world, the Inquisitor had done the impossible day in and day out. It had honed the edge of the women beneath the title even as it chipped away at her. It had spurred her feet forward and bent her slender back. And it wasn’t until her final victory faded from sight behind her that she realized she no longer knew who she was without its weight.
In the wake of Corypheus's defeat, the Inquisitor remains while all else sifts through her fingers like sand. The gnawing ache of Solas's abandonment remains, but there is something beyond that hollowing her days. One question haunts her: in a changed world, where does she belong?

Summary
Our fated-lovers await us upon the precipice of their reunion, the eve of their second-chance.
(The Purple Haze adult arc begins.)
And he is everything that she’d been hoping (praying, begging-the-Maker) to avoid.
”… the death of Lucanis Dellamorte.”
Rook is keenly aware of the Tevinter mage's dark eyes, moving too-keenly and too-rapidly to take in all they see. Neve is a teal sore-thumb amidst the raven-cloaked Crows.
