Summary
After rehabbing his injuries and putting in a lot of work, Buck is ready to go back to the 118. He wants to go back to work, and be back with his family. But his return takes more work than he thought it would, and people aren't as happy to see him as he was expecting, which makes the return a lot harder to deal with than he thought it would be. As things pile on and his support system shrinks, Buck finds himself wondering if it's all worth it and what he should do.

“No, you want what’s best for you, but I don’t want to stay with you anymore. I want to be here with Buck and dad, any of my stuff I forgot you can send it back, or we’ll replace it” Chris instructs as he walks back through the door.
Eddie looks at his parents who are shocked about Christopher talking to them like that, “You heard him, you might want to get an early night before your flight tomorrow.” Eddie mocked and turned around to follow Chris.
When he finds him, he’s already crying in Buck's arms. Eddie walks over and sits where he was next to Buck, pressing his hand on Chris’ head. “You’re okay, we’ve got you.’

Summary

Bobby Nash is content enough. In an on again off again relationship with Athena Grant, he finds inspiration and joy in the little things of each day. Still, he sometimes feels like something is missing.
The 118 hires a new probie with a glint of risk taking in her eye and just enough foolishness to fit into the 118. She faces every obstacle with her team, growing along the way.
Circumstances end up making Mara and Bobby each other's confidants, and slowly they grow into something more. An unspoken bond that haunts them both, until one day the coil inside both of them finally snaps.
(For all my Bobby + Athena fans, she gets a follow up story that goes along with this one because I adore her and think she would make an amazing match with another cop. The story will follow her reorganizing the LAPD into the best police department in the country, and one that is a role model for officers everywhere. My plan is to have her shatter the glass ceiling!)
