"Dare," he says.
The dare just flies out of her mouth; even she hadn’t known what she was going to say, but truth or dare is one of those games that always gets weirdly erotic within about half an hour, no matter who’s playing it.
“I dare you to kiss Will.”
Mike chokes on the beer he’s just taken another sip of, coughing wildly.
“W- What?” Mike gasps. Will remains dead silent, though his eyes get very wide.
“Hey, it’s just kissing!” Max says with a shrug. “Plus, I’m with El on this. I’ve never seen two guys kiss, it might be hot.” she smirks. "Unless you've got a problem with it?"
"No way! It's not a problem for me! But I'm dating El! I'm straight." Mike says a little desperately.or;

Summary
Everything should be perfect now. The Upside down was gone. Will was attending college. And he was in a happy relationship with Mike Wheeler, the boy he loved since forever.

Will swears, after the fact, that he didn’t know what he was going to do until he did it.
The kiss lasts barely a second, Will pulling away almost immediately as he initiated. Like a movie played in reverse, almost — with the same speed and force he had run into Mike’s arms, he is staggering out of them, the flush of relief and adrenaline replaced with a flush of shame, embarrassment, and the horrifying surety that he has ruined everything.

Summary
The Wheeler’s lakehouse was a two-story wooden building with white siding and blue shutters on each of the little windows. It sat on the edge of a large blue-green lake, a long backyard full of tall tufted grass that ended in a wooden dock extending out over the water. Will had been to the Wheeler’s lakehouse twice as a child, once when he was eight and again when he was sixteen. Now, he was twenty-nine and pulling up to the long driveway of the house in his beaten-up Ford Escort, his stomach in nervous knots that he was trying to calm with a half-full can of ginger ale.
or, four months after one byers/wheeler couple breaks up, another gets married. and, of course, will and mike are both the best men. and, of course, there is a plot to get them back together. nothing goes to plan.

Ninety-six hours.
It’s been ninety-six hours since Will last went to sleep, and, as with most things, Mike worries this might be killing him.
Maybe that’s a dramatic thing to think, but Mike can’t find it in himself to break out of the “agonize about it” mindset that has been normal for him since the seventh grade.
The anxiety is the motor that keeps him going — it drives him to act when the circumstances of his life are impossible to comprehend.
It’s keeping him hovering at Will’s side now, all pretense of personal space discarded and forgotten.
How can he think about what’s acceptable when the smudges under his best friend’s eyes grow more shadowy with each passing day?
Or: Will Byers is in desperate need of a good night’s sleep. Mike Wheeler is extremely committed to making that happen.

Will smiles encouragingly at him, swiping his tears away and kissing his forehead again. "Let's make a deal, okay?" he murmurs, voice low and full of a bittersweet sort of hope. "If in five years we're both doing better, and we're not dating anyone else-" Mike blanches at the concept of dating anyone else, of Will dating anyone else- "we can try again, okay?"
Five years sounds like a terribly long time. In five years, Mike will be twenty-three. He'll be done with college, will have a career, could be living anywhere in the world for all he knows, and the same goes for Will.
But five years is a whole lot less than forever, so Mike will take it.
In the summer of 1989, Mike and Will fall apart. Five years later, they fall back together.

“Everything's going to be fine, please don't freak out.” Nancy starts to say, which causes Will’s eyes to widen.
“That’s…not really reassuring, you know that right?”
Nancy huffs a laugh, “Yeah, it isn’t, sorry.” He hears shifting through the receiver, and he thinks maybe that's all she's planned to say.
“Mike’s in the hospital.”
Will sucks in an involuntary breath, letting the air back out, shaky. He nods repetitively, a little numb as he tries to process, before realizing Nancy can’t see him.
“Okay.” He aims for level but his voice cracks mid-way. He’s almost whispering, “Is- he okay?”
Mike's in the hospital, which kickstarts a drive to Boston and a worried Will as he thinks about Mike, the past, and love, all while conveniently held up by New York traffic.
