The pout on her lips and drooping eyes was a sight to behold for him. He leans on the steering wheel just to admire her. “I am.”
She yawns again before squeaking out a small whine. “But we don't have a home. Not together.”
“Louise?” Logan reaches for her hand. Once their fingers touch, she grabs his hand tightly and brings them to her cheek. It was then did he feel the tears. “What's bothering you, babe?”
“Do you see me, Logan?” she whispers, her voice trembling.
He wipes away some teardrops, “I see you.”
“Do you see me?” She repeats, “See me…in…your…”
“In what?” Logan asks, his panic rising again, “What are you saying?”
But instead of answering, her eyes drop close and she falls back on the seat. Her voice barely made out, “Don't leave me. Please.” before their hands go limp in her hold and rest against the center console.
