Just for this, he says. As though it’s trivial. As though it isn’t everything that Vox has dreamt of every night for the past several decades. As though the rejection doesn’t sting just as sharply every time he wakes up and reaches to the other side of a cold bed, hands searching for a lover that will never be there, and hears callous laughter echoing in the back of his skull.
Vox sucks in a shaky breath, closing his eyes. He tilts his face downward, unable to look at Alastor when he admits it. He almost can’t bring himself to, sure that Alastor is already certain of the answer.
”Yes,” he whispers.
”You can’t be serious,” Alastor says quietly.

Everything was too loud. He hated the warm, soft jazz that he could make out over the sound of his thoughts. He hated the soft light that cascaded down his shoulders that left a yellow hue on the wooden shelf below him. He hated what it reminded him of.

‘’Another one.’’ He heard himself utter, no tone of levity to his voice.
…Y’know, he was supposed to feel on top of the world right now. He had rallied the people behind him, the most successful rally since Lilith all those years ago. Far more successful than those he had on earth, and those were nothing to wave off. He had followers. He had a team. He had power.

His eyes narrowed, dark with amusement behind his glasses and his hand moved up Vincent's chest to grab his half-undone tie. He shifted his knee to press almost too harshly against Vincent's straining cock
“You're going to finish. Quickly.” The words came out hushed but stern, like Alastor was scolding him. “There is a dead body around that corner and I don't feel like getting caught because you-” He hissed and he tugged at Vincent's tie, almost undoing it, eyes sharp behind his glasses, “-couldn’t behave if your own life depended on it.”
