The fancy blue lizard lady gave a large pair of doors a hearty push and led Marcy through the castle’s main foyer, with pillars that reached impossible heights and stained glass murals the depicted impossible victories; and oh, if it were any other day, Marcy would’ve loved to spend literal days combing through every nook and cranny of the castle. As for today, though, stress and exhaustion and vague overstimulation caused the vast palace to be more of a bleary obstacle for her to push herself through than anything, already mentally mashing buttons through the exposition being dumped on her.

Summary
The Angel perplexes Ralsei far more than he can handle. How could he understand them? One moment, they are hugging him. The next, they choose to fight for the first time without any prior warning. Between days, they grow more tired, like something weighs them down. Ralsei's only purpose is to serve them and the Lightners, so perhaps he just does not understand how the Angel can change so rapidly. He can never truly understand them, despite trying so hard to do so. Yet, part of him keeps wondering. Curiosity gnaws at him the more time he spends in the Angel's presence.
After a frustrating three days with the Angel, Ralsei cannot make heads or tails of their behavior. They confuse him, and he confuses them. Perhaps, Ralsei was not thinking straight when he took drastic measures. Maybe, he had been too weathered down by the previous day in the church to be able to think rationally. Against his better judgement, he calls for the Angel by name.
They answer, and Ralsei finally sees the Angel for what they are.

It’s like Reigen’s been waiting for the question. He stops dead on the pavement, grips Mob by the shoulders, and stares down into his eyes with an expression as haunted as though every ghost the pair of them has ever exorcised has taken up residence behind it. “Mob,” he says. “Mob,” he says again. “Tell me, Mob. Look at me and tell me. Tell me truthfully. Do I look cursed to you?”
Mob looks at him, and tells him truthfully. “No.”
“Well, you didn’t look very long,” says Reigen. “Let’s just stand here for a moment, like so, and you can have another look, a nice long look, and really think about it...”
(There's nothing strange about being called back to exorcise the same haunted photocopier six days in a row. It must just be a very haunted photocopier.)

exceptionally charming take on a timeloop situation with fantastic use of prose and dialogue that conveys the characters and story so very evocatively with its word choice and pacing, and clever in a sharp way that makes me smile no matter how many times I reread it. genuinely one of my favorite fics I’ve read and one I easily recommend.
