Summary
Nick was uncertain of a lot right now, he was scared of a lot, but the one thing that terrified him the most was losing Charlie. He wished they could hold onto this forever, these roads, this trip, this feeling. Them, together, in the same city.
It kind of scared him how much he cared for his best friend, which likely tied into why he was so scared of telling him the truth; that he was in love with him.

Charlie took in the man one more time, eyes roaming his face that was pulled into an expecting smile. It was hard leaving knowing that realistically, they wouldn’t stay in contact. He appreciated the sentiment, but Charlie wasn’t dumb, he knew where this was headed; nowhere. “Yeah, maybe.” He smiled a smile that he knew was fake, a smile Nick probably didn’t quite believe either before he closed the door behind him.

“Hi, sorry to bother you, my mum wanted me to bring these–” Nick was rambling, looking anywhere but him with a tea in one hand and a croissant in the other. But, once his eyes landed on Charlie, he saw the realization flood him. His eyebrows shot up and his mouth opened and closed a few times, words trying to escape but nothing coming out.
“Charlie,” Nick eventually said, a soft smile forming on his lips.
“Nick,” Charlie responded, the name felt all too familiar on his lips. It came out soft and breathy, just like it did all those years ago.

“What?”, Will huffs, shaking his head in disbelief. “You know blue does not only equate sadness, right? It is one of the blatantly obvious meanings, sure, but it can also imply tranquility, loyalty, trust, peace, and—"
Shut up, shut up, shut up, the voice in his head screams by now, but one cannot interrupt Will in the middle of one of his art rants. Impossible. No chance. “And with the vastness of the sky or sea, blue is also often associated with distance, longing, yearning, and— stuff.”
“Distance”, Mike echoes, and only then does Will truly understand what he has just admitted into the air freely, completely unprovoked and voluntarily. “Longing. Yearning.”
Obviously, this is the exact moment Robert Smith decides to sing about the fact that it is Friday, and that he is very much in love.
Five times Mike distracts Will from his art assignments with his stupidly flirtatious ways, and one time Will actually needs his help to complete a coursework.

“Shut up.” He lets his head fall to Mike’s shoulder, closing his eyes.
Mike’s hand travels up to his hair, playing with his ends and scratching at his scalp. Will lets out an embarrassing whimper at that. Jeez, get it together, Will. “Let’s get you to bed.”
He complies just as easily as Mike drags him down the hallway towards their shared room.
OR
Mike can't go two seconds without being close to Will - so obviously, they have to sleep in the same bed.

Mike knows he looks stupid, unable to control the way his eyebrows furrow and his lips curl in complete confusion. Then his roommate rolls his eyes and makes a gesture like he’s cracking a whip, complete with sound effect. His cheeks heat up, the realization suddenly dawning on him.
He thinks Mike was on the phone to his girlfriend.
He thinks Mike has a girlfriend.
He thinks that Will is Mike’s girlfriend.
Everyone at college thinks Mike has a girlfriend. There's just one problem. The 'girlfriend' in question is Will Byers. Mike's best friend. Platonic with a capital P. He's so screwed.

I’m not letting you out of my sight, actually. You have to be attached to my hip like Max and that goddamn Walkman.”

After Vecna split the earth beneath Hawkins, nothing has been the same. Will's sensitivity to the Upside Down is stronger than ever, Dustin and Lucas are consumed with grief, and Mike and El are not speaking.
Then, Mike falls under Vecna's curse, and the party discovers that his way out of the trance is not through song but through his oldest friend, who is hopelessly in love with him. To be safe, everyone decides it's best if Will does not let Mike out of his sight for the foreseeable future.
