Wylan threw the bomb in their direction and shut his eyes in hopes the effect wouldn’t be as blinding. It went off with a loud boom immediately knocking everyone off their feet.

They reach a gully. It’s not huge, but it’s fairly steep and the ground is slick mud now, with a stream of rainwater carving a path through the bottom of it. There’s several deep gouges in the mud at the top where there’s been some sort of struggle, where hooves had skidded and slid and scrabbled for purchase.
Steve’s lying motionless down below.
Eddie flings himself from Scoops’ saddle, slip-sliding his way down, caution out the window as the only thought going through his head is getting to Steve.

“It’s colder than a banker’s heart on foreclosure day out there,” Wayne called out as he returned to the trailer after almost an hour of fiddling with the Mayfield’s dodgy boiler that the landlord was refusing to mend because ‘was it really that bad?’.
Wayne was surprised that Eddie wasn't responding but he quickly realised why when he turned around and saw his nephew standing there with what must have been three jackets, a scarf, two hats and multiple pairs of mismatched gloves on.
“Fuck,” Wayne muttered, looking over him.
“Steve isn't home yet,” was all Eddie said and Wayne noticed that he was holding his van keys in his overly gloved hand.
“Son…” Wayne trailed off, unable to bring the words into reality that they both knew were on his mind. That it was too dangerous, that his van wouldn't make it out of the trailer park, that he wouldn't be able to see the road, that there was no way he’d be any use to Steve going out there.

There’s a bundle of squawks and screams, outbursts of panic and anger, and it’s only when Hopper falls forwards to take Steve up into a slightly rough, protective hold, does he realize that two of those shots have lodged themselves in his own flesh and bone. (Realizes that he’d moved, instinctively, to shield El, despite never having spoken to her, who’d the gun had been so precisely pointed at, aimed for.)
