Summary
Harry Potter has never decorated for the holidays before.
Why has he started now? Better yet, why does Voldemort care—and why can't he stop? Their marriage of half a decade has worked flawlessly on the simple principle of, out of sight, out of mind. Neither of them are here by choice, after all, and the manor is large enough for them to avoid each other for months at a time without any trouble. It's safer that way for all involved. Voldemort had assumed they had an understanding on the matter.
But now, his halls are clogged with garlands and lights and Harry has wrought a subtle magic that keeps tugging on the Dark Lord's mind, pulling his attention away from more important matters—like paperwork and the running of a country without the assistance of competent minions.
Celebrating the holidays is a waste of time anyway.
Now, if only Voldemort could convince the strange, uncertain yearning in his heart of the same thing.

Little Harry finds out he’s a wizard and his first thought is that Voldemort sounds cool and he’d very much like to join his ‘team’. He only joins Hogwarts to find a way to get in contact with him. Deciding to stay cause he finds the school cool, Harry’s desperate avoidance of boredom and inability to think any action through before he hurtles straight into it not only results in huge amounts of chaos but also the interest of a certain powerful man with red eyes.
Basil only adds to the chaos.
No bashing of anybody (at least not intentionally but Harry has very firm opinions).

Summary
When a wizard turns seventeen, their soul mark manifests. Tom Riddle splits his soul twice and magic punishes him. He never gets his mark but he rises above it, like always. Soulmates are worthless to a highly accomplished wizard like him.
Magic does not punish Harry Potter. But Harry feels like it does. When he turns seventeen, he gets the Minister’s name on his wrist and assumes Tom doesn’t want him. Why else would Tom have ignored him all these years?
So Harry runs away to Puerto Rico. Eight years later, he returns to England convinced he can handle seeing Tom again.
He’s wrong.
Because Tom is looking this time, and he has no plans to look away. Harry might not be his soulmate, but he’s the one Tom wants to spend the rest of his life with. Now if only he can get Harry to want him back.
